New controls teased back at E3 will be playable on the TGS showroom floor.
Back at E3, Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi strongly hinted that the control scheme in the then current version of Resident Evil 5 would be getting somewhat of an overhaul, with the Tokyo Game Show the likely venue for their debut.
Following Microsoft's Japanese media briefing yesterday, Takeuchi confirmed that the new control scheme will be available to try out on the TGS showroom floor. No specifics were revealed, but he did liken them to Gears of War.
This strengthens earlier rumours that the new controls will support a run-and-gun style gameplay, as opposed to the traditional move, stop, shoot mechanics fans of the series will be used to.
Resident Evil 5 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 13, 2009.

Typo mate you mean "2009". Good story looking forward. It may change the way Resi plays though and that may be losing its character. However the stop and shoot mentality was annoying at best. So it may be like losing a wife that turned out to be your ugly sister and getting to go with her Angelina Jolie look a like best friend.

Gears of War like controls?? 4 thumbs down! theyre too generic. they feel too fake. no kick or resistance when shooting while running. Naturally if your firing a high powered weapon while running your not going to be able to move like you normally would with out the weapon. Now Metal Gear Solid 4 type controls, being able to switch the over the shoulder view from left to right/right to left, being able to prone, or go from 3rd person to 1st person at your own whim? yes that would be perfect..too bad....sigh...........
