Red Faction to be made into TV movie

Potential to act as a pilot for a full-blown television series.

Broadcasting and Cable reports that NBC Universal's Syfy has closed a deal to bring THQ's Red Faction franchise to television via a two-hour movie - it could serve as a pilot to a full-blown series.

In addition, the next game in the Red Faction video game series will be produced in conjunction with Syfy Games.

"It is the kind of content that fits our genre," Alan Seiffert, senior VP of Syfy Ventures, told B&C. "It is a great fit for a big Syfy Saturday movie, and if it really works, it is a great back-door pilot."

The project is the latest venture following the pair's announced partnership in February 2010, when it was revealed the de Blob franchise was heading to television and the web.
