Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma gets online co-op

Play through the story together as Ryu, Ayane or Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword's Momiji.

At GDC this week Tecmo revealed that Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, the enhanced port of Xbox 360 exclusive action title Ninja Gaiden 2, will feature online cooperative play over PlayStation Network.

Players will be able to play through the game's story with a friend, choosing from the characters Ryu, Dead or Alive's Ninjutsu expert Ayane and Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword's Momiji. As for Ninja Gaiden Sigma's Rachel, producer Yosuke Hayashi said: "She's a very important part of Team Ninja's games, now and in the future."

The game's scheduled for an autumn release in North America and Japan. A European release will follow.

I loved Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox and the updated Sigma on PS3 was excellent but I have to admit that I didn't think Ninja Gaiden 2 was a patch on the original - although I still haven't finished it.
