Sony registers MotorStorm 3 domain

Currently redirects visitors to the official PlayStation website.

It appears as if Sony has further plans for its popular off-road racing franchise, MotorStorm, with the platform holder having recently registered the motorstorm3.com domain.

WHOIS records state the registration took place on Friday, February 19.

Obviously this isn't confirmation that a new game in the franchise is on the way; it could be that Sony is simply protecting its IP from those looking to exploit the domain. On the other hand, it could be the first indication we've had that a third game in the PS3 series (there's also been one on PSP/PS2) is coming.

The first game was a launch title for PS3 in Europe on March 23, 2007, and was followed by Pacific Rift in November 2008.

I really liked Pacific Rift. Haven't played the game in a while but its a huge improvement from the first Motorstorm. Hope they do bring out a 3rd on the way!
