David Reeves, SCEE president, has revealed that more than 1 million PlayStation 3 consoles have been sold to PAL gamers.

MCV has exclusively revealed PAL PlayStation 3 sales to date, with Sony's David Reeves making it clear that the one million figure is for consoles sold to real people and not the often touted sell-in figures to retail outlets.
"Early last week we went through the one million mark on PS3. And we did that in nine and a half weeks," said Reeves. "That was faster than both PS2 and PSOne. And I think that the analysts out there will also realise that it's faster than our brothers and sisters in the competitive world."
Reeves also revealed some strong software sales with around two million units of first-party software snapped up by PS3 buyers. Of this two million, Resistance accounts for 600,000 units, with MotorStorm managing 500,000 units.

PS3
Theres no denying that this is a poor launch and the fact 600k and 500k copies of mediocre games have been sold shows the true flatness of the P$3 software range. There are no definitive must have games available and this is surely a downfall. It seems that P$3 is slumping into an abysys while the suprise console Wii is running away with things, although most Wii true gamers will admit they want a 360 also or already own one. The Wii360 combination is the winner in all retrospects and the fact you can pick up a 360 premium for £230 (Boots) and a Wii for £180 (Nationwide) just magnifies the claim. You can get both for less than a P$3 AMAZING.

280+ 180=£460...equal PS3 huh?
Wii doesnt come close to equally ps3 in price and xbox with HDDVD, Wifi, 20gb doesnt come close in price.

Clearly i just posted the prices! Plus to run the p$3 in HD it requires a HDMI cable as all other methods give problematic results! The offical sony wire is a staggering £50 and thus the reason why most outlets offer an alternate. HD DVD is an option and not essential nothing is forced upon you like the P$3 just to aid sony win the next gen battle! My prediction will be that the both formats will fail and digital downloads and on demand services will win just as the live service in the USA does and soon europe will offer! Can you add up? £230 + £180 = £410 if you payed £460 you'd get 4 free games and an extra controller for the 360! Simple!!!!

Expensive PS3!!
The PS3 is still way to expensive at the moment. It is better to try and get one for free (shurl.org/PS34FREE) or just wait until the price drops in about a years time!
