Mortal Kombat X will launch in 2015 for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, Warner Bros. and developer NetherRealm have announced

"Mortal Kombat has always been about over-the-top, visceral fighting and with Mortal Kombat X we wanted to utilise the power of new-gen consoles to give players our most intense game yet," said Ed Boon, creative director, NetherRealm Studios. "The team has worked hard to make sure Mortal Kombat X delivers everything fans expect along with new characters, new game modes and an all new graphics engine."

A debut trailer has been released, showing off what NetherRealm promises to be "unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay".

Mortal Kombat X claims to offer a new fully-connected experience that launches players into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy. Players will have the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style.

In addition, an original story will showcase characters including Scorpion and Sub-Zero, while introducing new challengers that represent the forces of good and evil.

The game will make its first public appearance at E3 next week.

MKX is the first title in the Mortal Kombat series since 2011's unnumbered Mortal Kombat.

Visually looks pretty good, gameplay wise looks a lot like MK9 which is fine, but damn I'm not a fan of their trailer music choice. If that's what the actual games soundtrack will sound like, colour me put off.

I'm still waiting on an explaination on why Sub Zero isn't a cyborg anymore.

Unless... they're all still dead, and this is (Im)Mortal (Spirit) Kombat...

I would have liked to see a heavy-hitting Cyber Sub accompanied with a fast, agile Frost.

No but it'd be funny seeing them explain how everyone is alive.

What would an MK be without regular Sub-Zero?

Does anyone ever really get killed off for good in MK?

Looks like weapons are back again going from this trailer, id imagine you can interact with the environment more so too, like Justice.

PLUS

They need to reveal ALOT of new characters since most of the old ones were killed off.

Excellent. Looks great, and so long as it has a load of fatalities and costumes, and more than one X-Ray per character, I'll be very happy.

One thing, though - if this ollows on directly from the reboot, how come Sub Zero isn't Cyber'd up?
