Film producer sues Midway over Mortal Kombat rights
Wants to ensure any future sales of Midway's assets does not result in the unjust loss of his rights.
Lawrence Kasanoff, the producer of the Mortal Kombat movies, television show, and animated series, has filed suit against Midway in order to ensure he maintains intellectual property rights to certain Mortal Kombat characters and the ability to create movies and television shows based on the hit franchise.
The suit contends that no protection of Kasanoff's rights is currently in place should a third-party buy Midway's assets - Warner Bros. is currently in the prime position - and any sale which takes place without such protections could result in the unjust loss of his rights.
The suit also claims that it was Kasanoff who took the franchise out of the arcades and made it into the strong brand it is today, turning characters like Liu Kang, Sonya Blade and Scorpion into household names.

Just another greedy hollywood producer if you ask me. Its part of the risk when he bought the rights.
So I couldn't care less tbh.

And, for that matter, who actually watched the series...at all...?!
