ChartTrack reports that Activision's Guitar Hero 5 has claimed the All Format No.1 in a week which saw six new entries in the Top 40.

The battle of the bands saw Guitar Hero 5 overpower EA and MTV's The Beatles: Rock Band, which, despite an extra few days at retail, managed only fourth place in the chart. Guitar Hero 5 is the first game in the blockbuster franchise to take an All Formats No.1 position.

Interestingly, both Guitar Hero 5 and The Beatles: Rock Band sold best on Xbox 360. Guitar Hero 5 on Xbox 360 was the second best-selling individual formats title of the week (behind DiRT 2 on Xbox 360), while the PS3 version placed at No.9 and Wii at No.11. The Beatles: Rock Band managed No.8 on Xbox 360, No.12 on Wii and No.13 on PS3.

At No.2 is Codemasters' DiRT 2, Eidos' Batman: Arkham Asylum drops two places to No.3 and Wii Fit is at No.5. Elsewhere 505 Games' IL2 Sturmovik sees a sales dip of only 3 per cent over its debut week and falls just a single place to No.7, Championship Manager 2010 is new at No.13, Mini Ninjas takes fifteenth position and South Peak Games' Section 8 just misses out on a Top 20 place at No.22.

The big hitters continue to roll into stores on Friday, with EA's Need for Speed: Shift most likely to take the No.1 spot. Also available will be Heroes over Europe, Katamari Forever, MotorStorm: Arctic Edge, Kirby Superstar and WET, plus PC versions of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Red Faction: Guerrilla and Resident Evil 5.

15m, no wonder they release a new one every year.

I traded mine in last February I think, only played it through once then never really looked at it again. Tried it on MP but couldn't get in to it or find it very interesting.

Plus, only 45 tracks with the rest clearly held back to flog as DLC? Thats not cool in my book.

I know a few people who haven't bought the Beatles due to not being able to export the tracks onto your existing RB set list - and this was a sure buy for them previously.

When Heather Mills gets really involved when she's listening to the Beatles she's been known to whip off her wooden leg and use it as a pretend guitar.

Hopefuly she won't need to do this anymore if Paul sent her a copy of the game.

WoW Beatles did not do as well as I thought. I would say maybe it is due to it being Released on a Wednesday. But Dirt 2 Was out on Friday lol. Also well done Batman. Good to see an English Dev in there still. Plus ashes is still fighting hard.
