Metal Gear Solid 4 had a lot to live up to and it's done so brilliantly. It will go down in history as one of the most ambitious and cinematic ever made.

I`ve played every MG title, in fact I`ve played them all in the past week, and while they are not perfect it`s certainly much better than boom f.. blox (I own both wii and x360). Reviewers must remain consistent..MG is more like a movie, ok , splinter cell mechanics are much better but MG creates a bond with players..well boom blox LOOOL. Those casual gamers instead of staying at home on wii fit should go to the street and actually do some real exercise not with dumb f... NES dolls apperance.

Maybe if the cutscenes had been shortened or edited better and someone mainlined some style into the dialogue. But hearing two characters asking each other too marry them just about had me laughing and cringing all at the same time. And thats just one example.

Also the Metal Gear came out in 1987, 21 years it took from start to finish. Alot to cover in one game. Oh yeah, if i started playing mgs1 in ~1997 when i was 11 and i understood the entire plot....but saying that, it isnt expected for someone to jump into mgs4 and understand whats is happening. Starting with Metal Gear, then Metal Gear 2 (havent played either, my eyes cry blood). MGS1 is a major part of the entire storyline and it is increasing rare to find a copy these days. mgs2 needed some reference to mgs1 but is important to mgs4. MGS3 on the otherhand is crucial to MGS4 as it explains everything. Therefore mgs4 is intended for fans of the series. Each game is relevant to another and playing these games before MGS4 is really, really touching and nostalgic (to those who have played *that* part). Especially when you last played it almost a decade ago.
Bottom line is, you like it or not. Don't like it cause of its lack of action? CoD4 awaits you, but MGS4 knows no limits, and that is why its what it is, a game that you cannot forget because of its storyline. Its interaction with characters and the world allow for something more than a game.

Sigh, I don't usual bite to trollbait, but anyway...
Resistance, Motorstorm, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank Future, Warhawk, COD4, GTA4, Burnout Paradise, GT5:P, Stardust HD, Everybody's Golf, Folklore, Heavenly Sword etc.
Yes I know some of them are multiplatform but they still are GOOD GAMES ON THE PS3.
And before you say "LOL all the exclusive games are crap", you're opinion doesn't matter until you've played them, which I highly doubt you have.
And MGS4 for GOTY.

Having said that, it is a stretch to call MGS4 a videogame. It's more like a 20 hour interactive movie. The reviewer states that the last third of the game does not have much gameplay in relation to cutscenes but in reality only the first couple acts of the game have any actual lengthy gameplay bits. I won't spoil anything but from the start of the last act to the end of the game contains literally about 20-30 mins of gameplay including boss battles and maybe about 2 hours of cutscenes. There were 3 times during the game that I had to pause the cutscene and take a nap because my eyes were getting too heavy and I didn't want to miss any important parts of the story. The acting wasn't that great either, with the cutscenes getting increasingly more over-acted and sappy towards the end of the game. Sometimes it was really pathetic. But they make up for it with amazing action sequences and some cut-scenes that are more fun to watch than movies. I found myself disappointed when they ended and I had to play again because the gameplay in MGS4 is honestly not very good. It doesn't even come close to competing with other next-gen games in the gameplay department. Playing was more of a chore than fun.
Overall it was worth the time I put in and I think everyone should experience it, at least rent it. Just make sure you have pop-corn ready before hand and don't expect much of a game.
