Free paper gives MGS4 6/10
Slams it for 'utterly overblown plot' and gameplay that's 'arthritic and boring'.
Free London newspaper Metro has given critically acclaimed PS3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 a paltry three stars out of five, slamming the "utterly overblown" plot and gameplay that "somehow manages to be both rubbish and exceptional at the same time".
Metro, which is given out free to mainly London-based commuters every morning, said of Kojima's epic: "Solid Snake is back, older, wiser but unfortunately, if gameplay is anything to go by, more arthritic and boring."
We can't imagine Konami will be pleased by the review. Equating each star out of five to two points on an out of 10 scale, Metro has awarded the game a six out of 10, which is the lowest MGS4 review score we've seen so far. According to certified distribution figures from ABC, Metro is read by 1.3 million readers across the UK every day.
The review, which isn't on Metro's website at the time of writing, says in full: "Solid Snake is back, older, wiser, but unfortunately, if gameplay is anything to go by, more arthritic and boring. In truth, the MGS series has always been rather unfathomable - a fanboy favourite that mystifies and inspires in equal measure. The plot is so utterly overblown that it's pointless delving too deep - imagine an art house remake of a Jean Claude Van Damme movie (there's a twin brother, global conspiracy, genetic engineering and, erm, a laughing octopus).
"The core of gameplay is stealthy third-person action but there are so many twists in the standard formula, it's breathtaking. It's a whirlwind of unevenness that somehow manages to be both rubbish and exceptional at the same time."
You can find out why Metro's review of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is wrong by reading our review, in which we give the game a nine out of 10 score, right here.

You haven't got a bloody clue. Two Brothers yes, one is fight to control the world and the other is trying to save the world. if you have watch any of the trailer it states " will you terminate liquid, will you do this snake". Also Vamp isn't a Vampire, his character is set to be a vampire to make raiden and snake to believe it. Vamp is control be nanomachines that heal fatal injures in seconds, now it you played the game or watch a spoiler of raiden and vamp 2nd fight you would no that you retard.

I quote "there's a twin brother, global conspiracy, genetic engineering and, erm, a laughing octopus"
why not just let some kid from the street, who hasn't played MGS ever, play MGS4 and let him write a review.
If he'd know anything there is a point why there is a certain person called Laughing Octopus ... besides it's a codename.
It seems he hasn't even played it to the end. IN THE END IT WAS CLEARLY STATED THAT LIQUID OCELOT WASN'T HIS TWIN, HIS TWIN HAD DIED YEARS AGO.
Just throw this review in trash, because its complete rubbish !
John
Have you even played the game?
John
You obviously haven't played the game have you? Otherwise you would understand the "evil twins" and "vampire like boss". Don't post comments when you are ignorant.

Like a true fanboy I re-played MGS3 in the few weeks leading up to the MGS4 release date, just to stretch out the old sneaking suit. All this did was to highlight the fact that MGS4 is frequently no more than a clumsy 3rd person shooter with an unfocussed and amateur storyline.
10/10 to the metro for injecting some honest criticism into the corrupt and partisan world of the games review. 0/10 to all those who manage to be take personal offence from it.

Reporting on such trash is just one step worse worse than the original article.

It's always hard to tell with short reviews like that, but I don't see anything he/she has written that's factually incorrect. If you disagree then good for you - that's part of the point in reading reviews in the first place.
