President believes gamers are waiting for Metal Gear Solid 4 before buying.
IGN reports that Konami president Fumiaki Tanaka has told Japan's Nikkei BP website that many gamers are waiting for Metal Gear Solid 4 before buying a PlayStation 3. This could well be the case and it's certainly a game Sony plans to capitalise on, offering a Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle in North America - there's no announced plan for a similar bundle in Europe though.
Tanaka also noted that although much of the sales focus for the game will be on North America and Europe, Konami expects the title to sell a million units in Japan - a considerable number considering the console has yet to reach a user base of two million in Japan.
Other than the blockbuster release of Metal Gear Solid 4, Konami will also be tapping into its large catalogue of classic games, with remakes on the cards. Tanaka noted that download services, such as Wii Ware, will be an important market for these titles.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is scheduled for release exclusively for PlayStation 3 on June 12, 2008.

boy with the way konami is so despertly trying to help the ps3 they might as sell the whole company to sony and just be a second party developer. they obviously dont seem to care about making money on other systems the way other companies like capcom do. maybe kojima can even become there new CEO.

I'm sick of hearing PS3 this, PS3 that... Sony's massive (and completely non compact-cant take it around my friends house) box has failed. Failed big. Can we move on to the consoles which actually matter now please... the 360 and wii.
The 360 is loads cheaper as a games machine AND a movie player than the PS3 (for those of you who dont know you can now download full HD movies and content (and standard def content) from xbox live now, nulling the need for the now defunkt HDDVD player) meaning the 360 has movie playing ability straight from the box.(and at $6 a movie its a hell of a lot cheaper too)
The wii has nearly all the functions the other two consoles have except a massive hard drive. Yet I have more games (full games) downloaded to my Wii than my friend can fit on his 40gig hard drive. (i remind you the wii has only 300mb of useable space out of its 512mb)
The PS3 is a space eater in every sense of the word. Nearly all its games are on the other formats too, and the wii's internet channel is loads better than sony's.
I honestly dont think this game will sell PS3's. It will make owners of PS3's happy for a good game to play finally but that is it.
I feel sorry for those people who wasted £400-£500 of there hard earned money.

wow...thats really sad. im not a fan boy but saying that PS3 isnt worth anyones time is retarded. its a good console and its sad how fan boys have to get on PS3 subjects like the release of MGS4 to bash the system. if the only consoles you care about are the 360 and the wii then why dont you go concentrate more on the games and features that are gonna be coming to those consoles? I get sick of looking up things coming to my PS3 and reading all these stupid posts like this.... I am not a fan boy. I like the 360 and wii. my brother owns all 3 systems so I play each one and play the certain games I like for each. Poppop....just stop wasting your breath trying to change peoples minds about it.

ive got one and its good i enjoy the games i used to have a 360 till i traded it in for the ps my brothers still got his 360 so i can still play the exclusives i still think the ps3 is better in the long term.

while i do agree it willl definetly help sony; the bigger question is what else after that. if they cant keep major hits like that coming after mgs4 gets played they will lose alot of momentum. one game is not enough to win the war. i myself own a ps3 but reconize that xbox and wii are serious threats that still have plenty of games on the way despite what some fanboys would have you beleave about xbox not having any more games. for me i personally dont care who wins the console war cause in the end the real game players are the real winners. wheather it be mgs4 or gears of war 2 or the next mario. does it really matter, i guess so if you listen to foolish fanboys.... too bad!

@poppop: What you dont realise is its costin you more! Who ever bought a HD drive for the 360 its basically useless unless they keep releasing HD disks. Basically any one who bought 1 and the HD dvds wasted there money and it will cost you more the buy the 360 package that has a HDD.
This article is no different from any other console exclusive, so P#@ off and go to your prefered topics :D This game is going to be good!
