Remedy: Rockstar's take on Max Payne is 'brilliant'
Studio absolutely loves what the GTA publisher has done with the series.
Max Payne 3 from Rockstar is due for release in March, following two previous titles developed by Remedy Entertainment. Despite now being in completely new hands, the team at Remedy is really pleased with how the game is shaping up.
Speaking to Kotaku on how he feels about what Rockstar has done with Max Payne, Remedy's head of franchise development Oskari "Ozz" Hakkinen said it's "brilliant".
"We absolutely love what they've done and couldn't be more proud of where the series is headed," he added.
"I mean, they don't really make shitty games, do they? It's as if the Rockstar logo has become this, 'Seal of quality.'"
Max Payne 3 will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on March 16 2012.

Hakkinen is true about there being this Rockstar seal of quality, but that hasn't always been the case. You only have to cast your eye back to Manhunt 2 to see how things can go very wrong.

Concerning the topic. I was never expecting anything less than brilliant from Max Payne 3 either. I just couldn't see it going wrong. The Max Payne franchise is very strong. He's a great character with an interesting background and perspective on life. Rockstar can make a solid game that stays interesting in a massive open world. So, it seems pretty obvious that they are going to make something just as good when they have the advantage of directing the game via a more linear progression.
