Will only happen when the cost of the peripheral does not raise the barrier of entry and accessibility.
According to a report on Gamasutra, EA Sports could soon be bundling peripherals with its titles, providing the cost isn't too high for consumers.
The news comes from a Q&A session with Electronic Arts' David McCarthy following his lecture at GDC Paris. He revealed that EA will be releasing sports titles featuring a peripheral "within the next 12 months", although did not specify on which platforms.
McCarthy noted that the inclusion of a peripheral will have to be balanced with the cost of the product.
"You have to be careful with it, because Rock Band, that's a great peripheral, but it's a big expensive box," he explained, adding that EA would put out a peripheral "provided it doesn't raise that barrier of entry and accessibility".
Is this a good idea or will it turn sports titles into gimmick driven experiences? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
