Lost Planet not exclusive to Xbox 360?
Capcom producer says there's a strong chance the Xbox 360 game will be ported to other platforms.
1up.com has been speaking to Jun Takeuchi, one of the producers on Capcom's excellent looking Xbox 360 action title Lost Planet. The most interesting nugget of information to come for the chat has already sent internet chat forums into a fanboy frenzy: the game might not stay an Xbox 360 exclusive.
"We will try to keep it as a 360 exclusive," Takeuchi said. "But, from the company's point of view, when you think about the business, in the future it's something [port the game to PS3] we might have to do."
It makes perfect sense from a business standpoint to port the game to the PlayStation 3, particularly to gain sales in Japan, where the Xbox 360 version is almost certain to bomb. Although sales of the game are predicted to be high in Europe and North America, the Xbox 360 is failing to make an impression in Japan, where the PlayStation 3 and Wii are expected to dominate.
Takeuchi suggested that the Xbox 360's poor sales in Japan aren't cause for a total lack of Japanese developed titles: "We hope that more Japanese publishers realise there are more markets outside of Japan," he commented.
Moving on to downloadable content for Lost Planet before the game hits store shelves, Takeuchi wouldn't be drawn on the company's exact plans, but he did say that "we [Capcom] will upload something to keep the users busy until release." Not a confirmation of a multiplayer demo, then, but at least we know something is coming.

Oblivion went multi platform, and so did other so called 360 "exclusives." Camcom is looking to make money, and their isn't a better demographic, then people who can afford to buy the Ps3.

I think a PS3 port would kick Microsoft where it hurts you know the QUALITY region.
Iv'e nothing against Microsoft but they skrewed up the 360...What a Damn Shame.

since the PS3 is more PowerFull than the 360 , a little Story Modification and better graphics should do it fine to sell well on the Ps3 Too .
Ps: """Love Sony , Damn Microsoft""" => PS3 Rules !

Obviously, Lost Planet will still be a Timed Exclusive game for the Xbox 360, since it has so much of a development head start over the Playstation 3 version, combined with the fact that that the Playstation 3 is so much more difficult to develop games on. If Capcom were to release Lost Planet on the Playstation 3, they would be sacrificing the financial benefits Microsoft offers to third-party companies who release games exclusively for the Xbox 360. Plus, the Playstation 3 market is primarily made up of gamers who want "sequel" rather than new games: Ridge Racer 7 anyone???
Xbox 360 games are easy to develop, and we will see Lost Planet on the Xbox 360 first. The most important factor is how well the game sells on the Xbox 360. If Capcom were to see Lost Planet sell REALLY well on the Xbox 360, they would probably be motivated to release it a year later for the Playstation 3.
HOWEVER, Lost Planet on the PS3 would end up suffering the same fate as Metal Gear Solid 2 did when it was released on the Xbox: So many people would have already purchased it the first time it was released that it would actually HURT sales of the later release on Playstation 3. This would have the potential to cause Capcom to rethink their business strategies and say, "If a game like Lost Planet on the Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 version by this huge of a margin, we shouldn't release any more games like this on the PS3 ever again." This is the reason why Metal Gear Solid 3 was not released on the original Xbox.
From a business point of view, Capcom needs to do what is right and keep Lost Planet as an Xbox 360 exclusive. Lost Planet will almost certainly not be released for the Playstation 3, because Capcom officially said they would be doing all that they can to keep it exclusive. I think Capcom is doing the right thing by focusing their efforts on keeping the game exclusively on the Xbox 360.
