The console war is fought everywhere these days, but the internet seems to be where people are most vocal. It also serves to give each console its own set of downloadable content, fuelling the war even more. Each week we'll give you a run-down of what's available to download on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, and declare a winner.

Note: This round-up is based on UK releases to each console's online service. Releases outside of the UK could vary.

PlayStation 3 - PSN

The biggest release this week is the Metal Gear Online beta which had been scheduled to go live on April 21, but was put back to this weekend. For whatever reason the beta is already up and running in Europe though, so hop online for some team-based tactical espionage. We've still been getting some connection problems, but we hope this will be sorted soon.

Also new this week for PS3 download fans is the highly anticipated Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack. The good news is that although several weeks later than Xbox 360, the map pack has been released on the European PS Store on the same day as it debuted on the US PS Store.

Other new content includes a couple of PSone titles, a new flOw package which includes the recent update, videos of Warhawk and Resistance and a Metal Gear Solid 4 wallpaper.

Command And Conquer (PS1): £3.49
Bishi Bashi (PS1): £3.49
flOw (with add-on): £4.99

Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack: £6.99

Warhawk: Broken Mirror Trailer: Free
Viking: Battle for Asgard Trailer: Free
Resistance 2 Teaser: Free

Dark Sector: Free
Metal Gear Solid 4: Free
MotorStorm: Free

I still believe that the Nintendo Wii could overtake the other two consoles in the DLC Royal Rumble.
