Two years into the console's life cycle, the undoubted graphical potential of the machine has been realised - Killzone 2 unleashes the power of the PS3 - nothing on any console comes close.

@ Mark_S- I wasn't knocking Gears, I loved the first, but if you give the 2nd a perfect score then KZ2 deserves a perfect score.
Killzone 2> Gears of War 2 because of the following: 1. Better Multiplayer, the best we've seen to date for a FPS (try to name something better). 2. Better hit detection. When I shoot a gun I want it to feel like I'm shooting a gun and when I hit something I want to see the correct reaction. GG has made an amazing hit detection aspect to this game. 3. Better graphics, I guess you can TRY, but your stretching it to say GoW2 is on the level of KZ2 graphically. Its the little things that make KZ2 more impressive like the bouncing sparks that each have their own weight and path after hitting the wall with a bullet, or chunks of concrete with their own physics after blowing a wall with a 'nade. The lighting in KZ2 is unmatched BY ANY GAME SO FAR. I guess the graphics go hand in hand with the physics engine in KZ2, which is unmatched, especially not by Gears 2. You can attest to that right? The weight of your character, feeling the wind blow them towards or against where you're trying to go, the effects of grenades and bullets on everything in the environment. 4. Both have great single player games so I won't go into that. 5. Full HD 7.1 uncompressed Audio > than anything GoW2 could put out.
I think the better question is what could possibly make GoW2 not better, but even as good as KZ2? Not everyone cares about Co-op or split screen, so I'm talking about stuff that makes a game what it is such as graphics, gameplay, physics, sound, etc.
@cheekylee- It was the Hammerburst (the one you can choose to start out with). The hit detection was terrible tho. I was shooting people in the stomach, legs, arms and a lot of the times they just kept running as if I didn't hit them. I thought a lot of the level designs were poor too, except for the level with the tower in it. I did like the magnum pistol tho.
I'm also not stupid, I have seen hours of gameplay videos, watched developers videos, and will be playing the game in two days. I already know what I'm in store for. I don't need to actually be moving my thumbs to say "alright now I can say this game is amazing". I'm a hard to please FPS fan and shooter fan in general, and i can see this game will quench whatever every other FPS has failed to do so far which is mainly for me realizing a fully simulated environment with very advanced physics and advanced hit detection. That will set this game apart for many die hard FPS fans.
That is all, peace.

Just take it all with a big pinch of salt. Don't forget that no review is definitive and they are all just someone else's opinion at the the end of the day. And besides, there's no need to complain because 9/10 is an utterly superb score.

No, it does not. However, by this point in gaming history, you should have the option as everyone is interconnected.

That's not an unbiased appraisal, it's informed zealotry. Slating the opinion of not one but two people who've played the game clearly demonstrates a closed-mindedness to any other train of thought.

I am sure I am not alone in this.

Loved everything about this sneak peek. At first I played the default control scheme as previous reviewers had commented on its fidgety zoom/aiming control. Yes I found it awkward at first but got used to it in no time. After a couple of play throughs I investigated the other controller maps and discovered "Alternate 2" (I think). For all of us who enjoy the C.O.D games not to mention the majority of FPS's out there, this is where it's at.
The aiming button is mapped to L1 with R1 still to shoot. Easily adopted as your combat functions and cover system are all handled by the shoulder buttons (except for melee being R3). Sprint is easily adopted using L3 etc....
I'm addicted already. Need another hit...
Looks brilliant, plays like a dream and I can't wait for Feb 27!!!
If you don't buy this game then you're a fu#%en idiot!!!
