Killzone 3 to go up against Gears 3 in April 2011?

Platform exclusives to lock horns.

First Edge reports that it's heard from a trusted source that Gears of War 3 will be released on April 8, 2011 - the game to be teased in trailer form only weeks from now - and now 1UP says it's heard the game will be going up against PS3 exclusive first-person shooter, Killzone 3.

While not pinpointing a release date, 1UP reports: "We've heard that the next Killzone game, Killzone 3, is scheduled for a release in the same time frame as Gears of War 3 next year."

The two gritty action titles would certainly make for an exciting Easter, with Marcus Fenix going up against Thomas 'Sev' Sevchenko.

KZ3 id like to see some co op a more innovative story, and of course some gorgeous visuals. @karl/Ninjutsu you guys really cant be serious,i think why you argue so much is due to the fact that your to much alike(in a gaming sort of way) but its really none of my business is it :p

Killzone 3 and Gears 3 would be pretty awesome, love Gears and enjoying KZ2 (currently playing atm), be interesting to see how they can improve with the 2 and a half years dev time they would have had since 2 shipped.

It would only be a competition if they were both multi-platform games. But they're not so this so called "rivalry" is really naive and based on stupid sales statistics.

Killzone 3, co-op co-op co-op!

would love to see them take a few lessons on the story front rather then generic ard blokes wipes out helghast.

I can see quite a twist from the way they ended the 2nd game tho.

Gears I'll reserve comments till I have finished the second.
