Kane & Lynch 2 in development?

Official PlayStation Magazine says so.

OPM, the Official PlayStation Magazine, is reporting that Kane & Lynch 2 is in development.

As revealed on the official PlayStation EU forum, the magazine says: "Sci has announced Kane & Lynch 2 is already in development."

The news came as some surprise to us here at VideoGamer.com, so we thought we'd check with UK publisher Eidos, owned by SCi. We've been told we're getting a response "ASAP", so you can stay right there on the edge of your seat.

If true, the news won't come as a surprise. Despite lower-than-expected review scores, the game has sold over a million units since its release in November 2007.

Indeed, in January this year, SCi anticipated that the title will continue to sell well through the remainder of its financial year and that Kane and Lynch will establish itself as another "key franchise for the group".

As a result of that news, we bashed our heads together and came up with our Top 10: Things that will make Kane & Lynch 2 great, the number one thing being the implementation of a cover system that worked.

Update: An Eidos rep has informed VideoGamer.com that OPM is believed to have based its story on something former SCi CEO Jane Cavanagh told MCV in 2007, prior to the release of the first title.

"We've already got Kane & Lynch 2 in production, which just goes to show the belief we have in it as a long-term franchise," Cavanagh told the trade publication.

I think that if they do make a second one they need to work on a few things: 1 make your teammates AI better(IE they KNOW HOW TO DUCK AND COVER!!!!)
2.THe coversystem is more fluid and less jerrky(meaning that its one button cover and none of this walk up to any wall and have cover)
3. Make the difficulty ramp more even. Personally i found the game had a really F**ed Up Difficulty system. a few levels would be so easy that u could beat them even on the hard difficulty but then youd find 1 level that was just utterly retarded hard(IE the dumpster truck level,The level where your inNew mexico or somethin) and then the levels after would be reallly easy. Now i 'm not saying they have to make the game harder or easier. I just think that they need to make the dificulty ramp more even aqnd less "Turokish"

I bought kane and lynch on the day it was released this game was freaking amazing the story was fantastic and had a lot of drawins it would most likely pull u in the most at the bank robery becouse that is when u find out lynch is a psychopathic the jail scene pulls u in even more cuz u find out kane did his own wife in a sequal would be great anyways becouse how many game alow u to be a bank rober, a prison breaker,and an u.s. soldier all in one. i gave tis game a 10 of 10 sequal is needed.

I agree the STORY of the original was fantastic. I hope they improve on the graphics and the levels. The next one should involve Kane's daughter, she can be a trained mercenary who you can choose to play as. They should have a level where you go to Vegas and you shoot up The Luxor and then have the fight follow you as you make your way to the MGM diagonally across the street. The the action can continue into the Studio 54 and then all the way to the Garden Arena during a concert. They could also include a Streets of San Francisco level where you shoot up the enemies from the back of the Van. It would be pretty cool to see the hilly and curvy road behind you while the sun is setting as you drive through the Bay Bridge or Golden Gate. They really have the potential to make this game a Perfect 10. Only time will tell.

Hey this is just so great that they are making a sequel. It had such a good stry, and I love the way it felt like you were in an action movie. I especially like the huge dance club in Tokyo. Shooting bouncers across masses of dancers and having mass histeria break out, and sometimes accidently shooting innocent people that just got caught up in the crossfire, with Lynch cussing up a srorm and playing mind games with you. It is the best visual level of the game.
They can still improve on the controls and have the guns feel more like the guns in "Call of Duty 4" or even "Rainbow 6 Vegas". The cover mechanism should also be improved.

Kane & Lynch 2 better include co-op mode. I don't care if it slows down performance, all you have to do is lower the resolution to 800 x 600. the high definition 9600gts is coming out soon anyway and ddr3 is going to be the next standard for system memory. i cant wait for the high definition new Displayport monitors. with the resolutions that high def, antialising on 4x will the mandatory standard for all gaming with direct X 11.

Kane & Lynch better have co-op mode. It's the only game on pc to allow the connection of an xbox360 controller playing in split screen.

oh god no why would you create a sequel to this i got the game within 1st week of release and went back the following week utter poo teng though earnt them a mint not worth making poo games though and giving yuorself a bad name though.

I thought kane & lynch dead men was amazing, the storyline was great aswell as the gameplay. Dudester stated above that the aiming and shooting was akward, I disagree, I just think it takes a second 2 get used to the controls and very soon be able to challenge other players with the game online. I will defo buy kane & lynch 2 the day it comes out as I'm sure it will have been improved, have a great story and amazing online experience.

As long as they actually attempt to improve the game as I'm sure plenty of people won't rush to buy the sequel.

For a next gen game the graphics were not the best even aiming and shooting felt arkward.
