Yes you can, mine was horizontal for months. I picked up conflict:denied ops, and it was vertical. I put in resistance, and now its vertical. But I can't figure out how to change it back.

Figured it out. All hi-def settings make it vertical. If you use the old a/v cables instead, its horizontal.
