Sony Computer Entertainment's Jack Buser, director of PlayStation Home, has declared the virtual world a "leader in the evolution of social games," offering more than 50 spaces and over 100 games - from 2D web games to high definition 3D experiences.

While 2009 was seen a big year for PlayStation Home, Buser says it's only the start of what's to come.

"This is just the beginning of what we have in store for you," wrote Buser on the Official PlayStation Blog. "Many of our long time community members have been asking for features, fixes and content that we have been secretly hard at work on, and will be rolling out over time. Rest assured that we hear your requests loud and clear (I personally use Home and read the forums daily), and although we can't deliver everything we're asked for, we will compliment all of these new features and content with a renewed focus on open dialogue and service."

He added: "Our Home Community Managers, along with myself, continue to work on addressing your questions regarding our direction for the next year, so stay tuned to the PlayStation Home forums for what is sure to be a lively conversation!"

Buser concluded: "We have an incredible number of new surprises ahead, so if you're not already a member of the PlayStation Home community, there has never been a better time to jump in and experience all of the fun."

Well the system itself isn't the problem. As a PS3 user, and a happy one, I agree with the sentiment that Home is in fact s.h.i.t.

I've never even had a look at home - but from people's comments I guess I'm not missing much!

I'll be quite honest I don't really see the point in all the social bit's and bobs on a console - when the power goes on I want to play a game - If I want to put stuff on facebook etc. I'll do that when I'm on the PC - Game time is too valuable!

Home has potential, but at present is nothing more than a curiosity.

Better integration with games might see more people use it, as some of the game areas are quite cool, but they lack any real interesting content at present.

Oh the irony of calling out the ardent fans of 'the other' side is just so tangible... :D

But I think I see a pattern developing here - both with stupid PR arses and the validity of the statements... heh.

if facebook did this, more people would go on it than farmville but on ps3, people might as well play their ps3 games.

they make the updates sound promising, cant wait till gdc and e3.

Rickitis has already concluded Microsoft's, the majority of Sony's online community and anyone else who has used the systems response.
