Wants virtual restraining order.

A female PS3 Home player was "sexually assaulted" in Sony's free to play virtual world, her roommate has claimed.

PlayStation user "Whoef" claimed on the official PlayStation forums that the roommate was "sexually assaulted near the Festive Tree while she was helping others with the puzzle".

"She would move and the harasser would follow," Whoef said. "Each time trying to get behind her and use the crouch gesture. This apparently went on for some time."

Whoef called for a "restraining order" in order to keep the two players apart, and even a "Home Jail" where "harassers can harass each other".

"If the harasser has a string of victims, then let them find themselves all alone or better yet, only with other harassers.

"There is no reason Home can't make money on future rapists. After losing all their items, like a real jail, Home can sell them orange jumpsuits, flip-flops and they can decorate their jail cells with a few items such as bunk bed, toilet and a bed roll. They might as well get use to it, that's where they are headed if they don't change their criminal behaviour."

According to Whoef, the female player is undecided on whether to return to Home.

The incident has lead to a report in Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph (spotted by NeoGaf poster Puck), which carries the headline "Fears over online sex assaults: Game players traumatised".

In it, the University of Melbourne's Dr Jessica Wolfendale said "unwanted sexual attacks" can emotionally scar victims, even if they are not real.

Lol depends on what kind of cheese it is. If it's festering clotted cum then no but if it's a good mature cheddar I may be persuaded. Home is a cock fest that was my point and if a female enters they get hit on. Plus the videos make me laugh.

She's complaining about VIRTUAL sexual harassment? Jeez......with all the storys you hear in the news about 40 year - old men courting 16 year - old girls over Xbox LIVE and participating is real - life sexual acts you'd think pretend harassment would be the least of society's worrys.

At least the wierdo's on Playstation HOME have the deceny to only do perverted things in the virtual world instead of carrying out their sick fantasies in real life, like many LIVE users seem to do. Power of the cell, i guess.

My thoughts? The case doesn't really have a leg to stand on, but I do understand where the girl was coming from, there are some really dodgy people in Home (and on the internet in general).

Please see above for a prime candidate.

I can just see the Daily Mail article tomorrow:

Video games website dismisses harassment of innocent girl in computer game in favour of discussing the merits of fish and chips wrapped in newspaper...

:D

I confess- I did it. I have been harassing many other innocent women as well. A video game character? No. IT WAS ME. I have made a machine to go into virtual worlds and rape women. I should be prosecuted. But they'll never catach me. NYAHAHAHA

Some people just like complaining.

Just give her a free Sony phone through the post and set to vibrate when switched on.

This is a prime example of the whole Greater Internet D*ckwad theory, from Penny Arcade. Pretty much every online environment, be it forums, Live, PSN, will have idiots. After one warning of idiotic behaviour, they should be banned outright. The ranks would be thinned considerably, but hey - the less immature foul-mouthed pre-pubescent teens on any service, the better - eh?
