The development cost of Heavy Rain was only €16.7 million, Quantic Dream's Guillaume de Fondaumiere revealed speaking to an audience at Digital Dragons in Poland today.

This figure rose to around €40 million once marketing and distribution was taken into account.

Sony did exceptionally well from the game, earning "more than €100 million," said Fondaumiere. "It's very profitable."

All this means we can estimate the development cost of Beyond: Two Souls, the studio's latest game, to a figure just over €16.7 million.

Earlier this month it was reported that the Beyond development budget is "a little bit more expensive" than Heavy Rain.

"I don't know if the budget is public but it's been a very, very reasonable price," explained the game's creator David Cage earlier this month. "We do very complex games, but I don't think they're very expensive compared to others out there."

He added: "The project is cheaper because we've got better at what we do. We're very tools-centric and we pay close attention to our costs. We don't do anything crazy with the finances, we pay correctly but we don't have sports cars, boats or the rest of it. We run the company very seriously."

Beyond: Two Souls will be released in October.
