Grand Theft Auto 5 could be released on Wii U and PC, Rockstar Games has suggested, stating that a release on platforms besides 360 and PS3 is still "up for consideration".

"Everything else is up for consideration. That's all I can give you," Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser told IGN, discussing why the game hasn't been confirmed for release on either PC or Wii U.

"The main thing is we are not... we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be.

"I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff."

And Nintendo US boss Reggie Fils-Aime would be delighted to see GTA 5 release on Wii U.

"The folks [at Rockstar] have said very nice public comments about the Wii U," Reggie told MTV.

"In the end, it is Nintendo's responsibility to have a large installed base, to have development tools that help the developers and publishers create great content, and essentially create an environment where teams like Rockstar can bring their very best content to our platform, and if we do that hopefully the very best content throughout the entire industry will show up on Wii U."

Rockstar confirmed last month that GTA 5 would be launching on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next spring.

But why not hold the game back to take advantage of next-generation hardware? Houser explains:

"Some other people talk about the limitations of the [current] hardware. We don't feel there are that many limitations. We feel we can do some very impressive stuff and do it for a large audience. This felt like the way... There'll be a much larger audience on PS3 than there will be on PS4.

"At a creative level, which is the most important for us, we could say everything we wanted to say and do everything we wanted to do on these machines. We didn't sit there saying, 'We'd like to do this in the game, but we can't.' There's plenty of power in these machines."

Information about GTA 5 has been coming thick and fast since Game Informer's info blowout last month, including a brand new trailer.

Wii U version would be amazing, to the extent that I'd consider buying the game twice! If R* made a GTAV GOTY edition for Wii U and released it a year later, I might well buy it.

I was actually think of building a gaming PC just for this game late next year. They'll obviously end up making a PC version, even if they are just saying they are "considering" it. If this does come out on Wii U however that would be right up my street, most favourable!
