Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City is to be released for PS3 and Games for Windows PC on March 30. This retail release will not require a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV.

The two episodes - The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony - will also be available to download individually on the PlayStation Network and Games for Windows - LIVE on March 30, 2010. To play an individual episode a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV is required.

"It's been a long time coming, but we are proud to finally deliver Episodes From Liberty City for the PC and PlayStation 3," said Sam Houser. "We appreciate the patience of our PlayStation 3 and PC fans worldwide, and we look forward to putting the games in your hands this March."

The Lost and Damned is a dark trip through Liberty City’s seedy underbelly as outlaw biker, Johnny Klebitz, fights to keep his gang together as a rift in the gang's leadership threatens to tear the brotherhood apart. In The Ballad of Gay Tony, players explore Liberty City’s high-end nightlife as Luis Lopez, struggling to balance the temptations of money and vice against loyalties to family and friends.

The episodes had been exclusively available on Xbox 360.

I found the dating & friends element tedious at best. I still finished it though. I have never been able to let GTA rest until it was done.

Multiplat "exclusives" are bullsh!t. Agreed. I don't think there will ever be a vanilla flavoured norm so long as companies are in competition though.

Exclusives need to be treated as such and take thier place as something unique and outside of the multiplat arena. Until Sony and Microsoft team up and produce the SoxBoxy, we can be certain that devs will try and get the best out of the tech they have.

I hated all dating and having to hang out with friends, which is why I gave up on it. I enjoyed the rest of the game, so I'm hoping that 'Stories' will provide more of the core GTA action and less of the that other stuff.

I only played Lost & The Damned - and that certainly had a lot less dating!

You could arm wrestle though! :)

I'm just glad that I'll get to play Stories from Liberty City at last.

Do the two episodes feature less socialising with friends and girlfriends?

As far as I know the DLC was always only a timed exclusive.

Exclusive games are fair enough and provide healthy competition but I do agree that all this timed exclusive stuff is total junk - it just leaves bad tastes in peoples mouths.

DLC should never be exclusive.

If a whole game is going to be exclusive, then fine. But I find pointless if someone is going to release a game on two consoles and then release the DLC on only one of them. It's understandable from a business sense, but it just pi**es off us gamers.

That's a real shame. Single vanilla-flavoured console future, pretty much confirmed. Without a good deal of exclusives, what makes the PS3 and 360 disinctive? One is Japanese which gives Japan more focus than anywhere else, the other American which does the same for over there. As a hardcore gamer with over 20 years of gaming experience, this news really dissapoints me, and I'm not entirely sure why...

Tbh it was always going to happen, it's just a matter of time. How stupid does Microsoft think we are? From here on out they're going to go down, down, down. Unless they bring something revolutionary, out of there once successful asses

Why do Microsoft keep lieing and saying that a games DLC is exclusive to the 360 when it isnt? There is a huge difference between timed exclusive and exclusive.

The term 'exclusive' is used very loosely.

Bioshock, Fallout 3 DLC and GTA4 DLC were all 'exclusives'.

As a PS3 owner, I'm looking forward to this. It looks more entertaining than the main GTA4 game.
