Problem more common on PS3, but there are reports of similar issues on Xbox 360.
With such a massive amount of gamers playing GTA 4 there were bound to be some problems reported, the first being a freezing issue with the PS3 version of the game.
Numerous forum posters are reporting the game has frozen on them during a cut scene early on in the game, with technical support suggesting those experiencing problems erase the install files and the game save and start over. This fix, according to reports, does appear to remedy the problem.
There have also been reports of freezing in the Xbox 360 game, but with no hard drive install it could be that the problems there are just random occurrences.
We've had the Xbox 360 version on for well over 40 hours and had no problems and we're also crash-free after several hours with the PS3 game.

Mine freezes during the intro sequence, and if skipped, right away during game play. XBOX 360 works for everything else, it's a game defect, not a "random occurence."

I played mines for 12 hours straight on the ps3 when i got the game at midnight with out a problem.
Now it keeps freezing for a second every 10-15 seconds during game play and cut scenes.
I am aware that the 60gb models are affected, mines is a uk launch 60gb with about 29gb free space.
I hope this can be fixed soon

I got mine at midnight and played it last night and it froze. Tried erasing the game data and reinstalling with no luck. So i took the game back and got a new one, tried it like 10 mins ago and the same dam thing happens. This sucks. Had this game preordered since Feb and this crap happens. They coulda just pushed back the game again for the 20th time to fix these dam bugs.

Yea mine is doing the same thing on the 360.. I bought it at 12 and played it for about 2hrs before it started freezing my whole xbox. Its always at the opening scene when Nikko walks down the stairs into the street. I hope this will be fixed soon, if not some people will be very angryyy.....

I too am one of the unlucky ones. 360, no problems with any other games. It happened the first time on a cut scene and now happens at the start screen with the guys with crowbars or else when I am about to go out of the apartment. It has happened on the map screen as well. This is wretched. I updated my console and that got me in once for another hour of play, it seemed to help to have to log into xbox live. But since then 15 tries with a freeze every time. Has anyone on the 360 tried the supposed game data delete fix?
