Sony's racing simulation nears platinum status before it even hits stores.
According to GeekPulp who have been chatting with Dave Hine and Paul Gunn of SCE New Zealand, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has notched up pre-orders of one million units across Europe, reaching platinum status before it's in stores or available on the PSN.
VideoGamer.com just got confirmation from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe that the figure is pretty much accurate.
"I can confirm that we currently have orders for almost 1 million units of GT5 Prologue across SCEE territories," a SCE spokesperson told VideoGamer.com.
It's also been confirmed that lifetime sales for the Gran Turismo franchise stand at more than 48 million units, with sales of GT5 Prologue likely to lift the franchise over the 50 million milestone.
GT5 Prologue will be released via the PSN on March 27, with the Blu-ray retail release available a day later.

I can't believe people are paying for a Demo it seems ludicrous!

£19.99 seems worth it, there's a lot of content there:
71 cars, six tracks (two layouts each), 16 player online, split screen etc.
On a side note, BBC Click (technology programme) was running some ingame footage from GTA5 early yesterday morning and I caught a glimpse of it on the HDTV downstairs, aside from the usual blandness of the tracks it was impossible to tell it from the real thing. Then again they didn't show two cars colliding head on at 200mph and driving away without a scratch.
After four Gran Turismos though, I'm a little tired, so not really excited about number 5. For the current generation of 'I'm getting my driving licence next year' videogamers though, they're in for quite a treat.

You just said £19.99 is worth it for a demo are you all there? the Game will cost you another £40 to £50 on top if you want it. What an absoloute Rip off!. I have played it and it is quite good but nothing better than Forza 2 or PG4 makes you wonder what have they been doing.
