Only Screen shot comparison I can do is this one and it's slightly unfair as Forza 3 is in game and GT5 is in the menus.
Gran Turismo 5
Forza 3
Real Car
As you can see the Forza car is more true to life. Maybe advertising problems has caused Sony some issues and they have replaced the logo's with vents. Also the length of the nose seems out of shape on GT5?Last edited on Wed 2 September 2009 by Karlius
Keep looking at those images and thinking how is there so much difference?
I think the front end weirdness can be sorted by looking here:
Deff looks more true to life in that one. Shame about the ficticous vents and still a weird front end.

Well done El Dev been looking everywhere thinking why the bloody hell would they do that. Still a kind of hybrid at the moment colour and number wise but cheers for clearing it up.
Makes it look a lot more competitive infact both models are looking awesome!Last edited on Wed 2 September 2009 by Karlius
hmm it seems that forza in game looks more white washed with the lighting which can give false reflections on the car and therefore create the red car paint see lighter than the GT5 version. although the GT5 version seems to have gills. and can come across a little too dark, but it isnt even an ingame screen shot but a menu screen shot.
Most likely it will stay the same in-game. I think if the Forza version was darker than it would be virtually perfect. The GT5 is slightly less realistic.
yea most likely, wonder how different the game engines are seeing as they are most likely dealing with the same calculations and algorithms (if thats right). Couldnt imagine that they're are that different in terms of what they produce. But overall the visuals on both systems are remarkable. Now imagine those visuals on a game like Burnout or Grid.
What I'm thinking is GT5 has been in development for around 5-6 years. I'm hoping it will be more of an in depth game. But Forza 2 was near perfect on this gen so had an amazing start with the 3rd release. So as you say they should be pretty damn equal unless you get the rally section etc in GT5.
Well if either of them do a rally setion then i suggest they take a leaf out of CodeMasters and their reent Dirt 2 with its handling whih is fantastic.
GT5 being released this year has really cooled my enthusiasm over Forza3. I'll get GT5 day one and probably pick up Forza3 somewhere along the line. The whole "Pimp My Gran Turismo" video at E3 didn't really do anything for me, I want to race the cars NOT decorate them.
Has GT5 now been confirmed for this year El Dev? Or are you speculating based on the published and then removed date on the Polyphony website? Probably if it will be we'll get clarification at the Tokyo Game Show!
PS not me with the Thumbs down. I'll thumbs up to counteract.
Think the rally cars will race on the same circuits.Last edited on Thu 3 September 2009 by Karlius
Both Forza 3 and GT5 look fantastic, but I think the roadside objects look a little better on GT5. The recent damage model videos for GT are impressive, particularly when the cars crash through the lightweight barriers.
The fact that GT5 doesn't release until well into 2010 and that Forza 3 comes out in just over 3 weeks means that I'll probably get both. Thank you Polyphony for being so incredibly slow and constantly missing deadlines.

GT5 has the 2009 version with the vents and different front end whilst Forza3 has the 2005-2008 model. Hopefuly that clears up your confusion.
