Will be something that can't be given to Gran Turismo 5 through DLC.

Polyphony Digital is working on Gran Turismo 6. The news comes straight from the mouth of series creator and Polyphony president Kazunori Yamauchi.

"Of course we're working on GT6 already and I think what really will be the separating factor is something that we can't update through a DLC is something that obviously has to be saved for GT6," Yamauchi told IGN. "Things that we can provide through DLC we will, so that's really the market difference".

The first premium DLC for Gran Turismo 5 hit Europe late in October, offering new tracks and cars. More DLC seems certain.

"Now that we have that out of the way, we're ready to release more expansions and content to add to the game," said Yamauchi. "I think that will include cars and trucks that we'll be releasing maybe once every two months or so from here on out. What we do from here on is also really dependent on the reaction of the users to this first DLC that we just released because this is the first one. Now we have the feedback from our customers and we'll see how that will affect what we will do from here."

VideoGamer.com Analysis

The big question hanging over Gran Turismo 6 was never really "is it in development?", but "when will it be released?". New games in the series have traditionally taken years to develop, so it would be a surprise to see GT6 any time before the end of 2013 - and that might be pushing it.

Methinks it'll be out on the PlayStation 4... a year or two after it has launched. Competing against Forza 6.
