Polyphony Digital is trying to 'give everything that little bit extra'.

Kazunori Yamauchi, Polyphony Digital's president and creator of the Gran Turismo series has revealed his team is currently putting the finishing touches to PlayStation 3 exclusive Gran Turismo 5.

"… my attention is focused purely on Gran Turismo 5 right now," he told Famitsu magazine. "The scale of this title is just dizzying, so daily progress is slow, but it's still going forward at a steady clip."

He added: "All the basic stuff is complete, but we're trying to give everything that little bit extra at present. We could release it any time we want, really, but I want to have that classic GT-style 'did we really have to go this far?' feel going. I want to go way beyond gamer expectations."

Going beyond gamer expectations could prove tricky, given that the title is one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2010.

Gran Turismo 5 is scheduled for release in Japan on March 31, 2010. No firm date has been set for Europe.

The slightest movement of the left stick has the cars going in to the corners, almost like it was too sensitive. It kinda took away from the excitement for me. Even the Mini in the demo required very little steering to get it through a corner. Maybe it's to allow for easier access to more casual players or maybe it' to accommodate drifting but it is noticeable.

Lol it's not a bad site a few independents on there and they write some good stuff.

I don't like that you got a thumbs down for that comment. Going to give you a thumbs up to counteract. There are members of the team that own both consoles suspiciously the only love came from Seb who owns a 360 alone i believe.

What cars are you driving to get the tail happy action? Porsche? Ferrari? Both are tail happy cars. Pretty much anything rear wheel drive has a tendency to kick out. As far as I make out handling is what I expect.

All Age Gaming? What the hell is that?

Not meaning to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but don't all the staff own 360s and only one owns a PS3? Not much of a suprise really that they are more excited about a game they can play at home in comparison to one they might get to play at work.

That's not to say Forza isn't a fantastic game, it has reviewed very well even with it's generous over-steer.

I found a direct comparison http://www.allagegaming.com/products...-5-vs-forza-3/ but like you say not much in there but it seems like the magazine companies are happy with Forza even asked the guys here which their more looking forward too knowing the response would more than likely be based on code they've played previously and it was pretty much all Forza 3. That's not to say GT5 will not be fantastic.

As I thought, no real in depth previews per se, just the little hands on time the journos got at conventions over the last few months. I read those when they came out but I don't put too much stock in them, kinda hard to when they get so little time with them.

GT has never had Porsches, they did have RUFs though. I wonder if the same thing will happen in 5.

There's loads around El Dev look at IGN's for a glowing reference. You'll have to delve into forums to find comparisons as there aren't any on the previews IGN has quite a good early take http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/101/1015537p1.html these are the guys that broke it that GT5 won't have Porche (Apparently there's an exclusivity.

I believe in the end Forza 3 will keep 360 owners happy and GT5 keeping the PS3 owners happy only people with a headache will be those with both consoles but seen as GT5 isn't out for another 5 months just get both.

Unbiased more critical preview here.

I won't be getting the new Gran Turismo, the prolouge put me off. I'm getting Forza 3 next year after playing the demo (I have to get through Dirt 2 at the mo)

I'd be nervous if he had of said, "We'll release a game we're not happy with and patch it as we go along in the future".

Long time making this game so hopefuly it'll have been worth the wait.

Where'd you read those previews Karlius? Haven't read any previews for it, might have a look about at them today.

Of course it is better than reality, I can't afford all these fancy cars other than in a game and I don't die or hurt myself when I crash.

It is PR nonsense but the headline of the article is a little misleading as he only said "want".

For the length of time this has been in development then they don't have an excuse if this is not something special.

Sorry this is adding into the fact that last week they said that it was "better than reality". "I want to go way beyond gamer expectations." My expectations should now be massive.

Their not as all I see is PR dribble and from the reaction from review sites around the Net that have played GT5 (has to be noted development code) and other comparative games state it's not as complete as GRID or Forza 3 obviously on the final code this can all change.

Luckily all I have to go on is GT5 Prologue which was somewhere in the region of Forza 2 so my hopes aren't that high and I can usually play down the media hype of games.

Truthfully I hope it will be an amazing game for everyone's sake as it only pushes the boundaries of gaming further.

To be fair, he's only said he wants to go beyond expectations which is a worhtwhile aim for any developer.

Wow If that's not setting themselves up for a fall I don't know what is! This game is going to have to be flawless otherwise with the amount of hype that developers are giving it will be an epic fail. Forget about Molyneux hyping up a game and just take this is a number 1 example!
