A host of never before confirmed features have been revealed for Gran Turismo 5, including track creation and sharing, go-karting and stunt arenas.

Speaking to PlayStation.com, Shuhei Yoshida, president of SCE Worldwide Studios, said: "Gran Turismo 5 will offer gamers an experience more rich, more in-depth and more exciting than they might expect - even from a series as closely identified with innovation and invention as Gran Turismo. Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations, it will also feature new game-enhancing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather.

"These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit, whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races."

Yoshida concluded by calling the upcoming racer - set for release on November 2 - the "definitive gaming experience full stop".

PD don't appear to be the fastest developers so I'm guessing everything that is in the game for release won't just be thrown in now because it's near the end of the development cycle.

Simply a must have. I really enjoy the creation aspect of any game. I've spent hours on the Far Cry 2 map creation tool just creating scenes and messing around without actually intending to post online. Obvoiusly GT5 will have an amazing amount of depth but this really is icing on the cake for me.

I'm sure there are a few surprises to come.

Yeh they're nice additions, but I'm sure if it was due for release this summer and Sony said at E3 "Well actually, you've got another 6 months to wait so we can add kart racing" there would be a massive outcry. It's easy to say they're good additions now that the game isn't too far off.

I think what probably happened was the game was scheduled to finish development around now, but Sony want it out in the Fall so they said "Okay put more stuff in, you've got loads of time guys!"

Kart racing is pretty cool as well, nice little feature to add in a racing game. Could offer a bit of light relief from the serious racing and possibly some online fun.

Yup have to agree with you there. Forza can keep it's car ingame preview stupid thing. Track creation is far more interesting.

I can see myself making my dream rally circuits with realistic "shinny" graphics and my fav cars.
