It's rare to experience reality under the 'best and most aesthetically pleasing conditions'.

A lot is expected of PlayStation 3 exclusive Gran Turismo 5. It's been a long-time coming, with PS3 gamers thus far having to keep themselves busy with Gran Turismo HD and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

The wait isn't expected to go on for much longer, though, with GT5 now officially confirmed for release in Japan on March 31, 2010.

So, just how good will GT5 look? According to series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, the game will appear "better than reality".

"'Better than reality' – yeah, that's one way of putting it," Yamauchi told NowGamer. "In a way, it's kind of a given that it's going to look better than reality. The thing about reality is that the criteria for looking "real" are actually a lot stricter and volatile than you'd expect. The way the sun shines, reflects off something, the way it lights scenery – we seldom have the opportunity to see what we consider "reality" under the best and most aesthetically pleasing conditions."

He added: "When you see a race on television, compared to a race in a game, you realise that the reality isn't as shiny or pleasant as the game."

I'm pretty sure GT2 came with a disc that if you scratched/rubbed it smelt like tyre rubber. Pretty impressive.

It does look awesome, probably the best looking racer about but watching a real race in person is hard to beat. Unless they go GT2 style and release a scratch and sniff disc again.

I wonder if they'll be releasing a new wheel when GT5 is released.

Is that really a controller lol, I thought it was just a bit of plastic, because you still need the Wimote in it right?

But it does need to be light ill give it that. But then is Natal all about removing the controller and making it you?

For the indicators on Natal you'd need two shoulder like buttons, then for gears you could have some sort of up and down buttons, for the steering you'd have some sort of wheel to make it feel realistic, maybe with some force feedback. For the brakes you'd have a pedal like object under your foot....hang on...

Think i'd still prefer a steering wheel think this is one place where natal developers would have to think outside the box to be incorporated. Microsoft perfected the steering wheel with the old sidewinder stuff for PC ever since their consoles have been getting a version don't think this should change.

Unless for changing gears you have the flappers or what ever they are called on the back of the steering wheel so when you want to change gear you just do a one hand clap i suppose.

They'll need a wireless wheel like mario kart that gives feedback to better any driving experience currently available for me.

The next stage in racing is using Natal, and to see how well they can implement the racing genre to using no controllers. It's going to be hard i think to make a really really successful.
