Sony finally announces the official price and release date for the PlayStation 3 in the UK - 30 Games at launch.

It's all a bit of an anticlimax really. The March 23 date and £425 price point have been what people in the know have been saying for weeks, if not months, but now it's official. Also as expected, the 20GB model won't be available at launch, with Sony saying that it might arrive towards the end of the year, depending on demand. 1 million consoles will be available across Europe for the launch period, but no exact number for the UK has been released.
As for which games you'll be able to pick up with your new console, Sony claims that over 30 games will be on offer, although this is a mixture of retail and downloadable titles from the PlayStation Store. Titles confirmed for launch (note, that's not the same as day 1), include Sony's MotorStorm, Resistance and Formula One Championship Edition, plus games from Electronic Arts, Activision, Namco Bandai, Sega, Take 2, Ubisoft, Vivendi Games, and Sony Online Entertainment.
"Following the hugely successful launches of PS3 in Japan and North America, we are absolutely delighted to be able to bring significant numbers of PS3 to the UK," said Ray Maguire, SVP and MD of SCEUK. "To be able to launch with over 30 titles including retail versions and great downloadable gaming experiences across every genre shows that this is our strongest launch line-up in the history of PlayStation, and is what PlayStation fans in the UK have been crying out for."

I still beleive the P$3 will go downhill on day 1 in Europe, if Nintendo can bring out the killer of their best games-SSB:B, MP3, and possibly (If the rumours are untrue) Super mario galaxy. This should "distract" them from it.

Which pretty much equates to what we said earlier this month, not that I'm making a big thing out of it or anything. ;)
