Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has revealed that Final Fantasy XIII is nowhere near completion.
Speaking at a financial briefing in Tokyo, Wada revealed the news that all Final Fantasy fans didn't want to hear - Final Fantasy XIII is still quite a long way from completion.
"It will still take a bit more time. At the very least, [a release] this fiscal year is definitely out of the question," said Wada.
This means the game won't be released in Japan until some time after March 2008, and with the game likely to take its time to make the move to the US and then Europe, we could be in for a very long wait.

FF 13 & MGS4 will both release for Holiday 2008
I've talked with several managers, and they believe there is no way games like Final Fantasy 13 and Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released in months like March and April. There is a much better chance those two games will release during the Holiday shopping season of 2008.
Waiting all that time is rediculous. It doesn't make sense to even considering buying a Playstation 3, because those games are so far away, and the PS3 will probably be $200 less expensive by the time they come out during the 4th quarter of 2008.
Plus, with all of the rumors saying that Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy 13 will be on the Xbox 360, there might not be a need to even consider getting a PS3 at all.
Heck, with just MGS4 and FF 13, I probably wouldn't be interested in the PS3 anyways, because Xbox 360 has so many more awesome games available now, and the Wii has cool new gameplay.

It may be a lost opportunity, but lets face it, I'd rather have a well-translated/voice-acted/coded European release than a quick hash-up.
