We had worried that FIFA 09 was going to end up like EURO 08 with a Premiership skin. Luckily for us, we were wrong. The best FIFA game ever made.

Can someone please tell me if there are any different weather conditions on FIFA 09? (Rain, Snow etc.) Because I bought it last night and there is no option to adjust the weather conditions....?

I had a surf around the EA forums and I think you can have Cloudy, Rain or Snow (as well as sunny). Looking a bit deeper it seems you can adjust the conditions by selecting an 'Overcast' option, but only in certain modes and only certain stadiums, after which it seems to be pot luck as to if you'll get cloud, rain or snow during the match when Overcast is on.

P.S. That was from the PS3/360 section of the EA Forums, no idea if that information applies to the other formats.

Been playing this for 3 days now...I work for a games company in uk that lets us buy the games as soon as they come into stock.Ive been a pes fan for many a year and hated fifa,however I have to put my hand on my heart and say this....FIFA 09 is the dogs bollo*...plays like pes now,great gameplay,smooth online,great league systems,online mplayer 10 v 10 works amazingly well(provided your playing with mates you can trust)...and the custom tactics on the fly are so intuitive its scary...all in all this year EA have finally delivered the game theyve always promised....

After watching a gameplay video of PES 2009. I can see little improvement. What is this gameplay every one talks about? All the players move the same. Speed isnt a factor as I can just about keep up with Ronaldo using Sol Campbell.
Players turn back and forth like they're having some sort of epileptic attack.
You can take on the whole team with Sqaure + X or X and A.
Crossing is no where near as realistic.

Now i do base this review/opinion on the Fifa 2008 and the 09 Demo since before that I had owned PES 5 and 6. But from 6 onwards, 2008 was hardly any different. I guess its the same with 2009.

Fifa adds a little bit extra to the player. Their own style, their own flair.
With the new additions such as a pacy player zipping past slower players and the likes of weak players getting out muscled by stronger players, it will make one heck of a game.

Ive been a fan of both games. When PES has been better, ive bought that and vice versa for Fifa. But PES fanboys need to realise (i also loved PES), this whole "gameplay is better" thing isnt really a factor to consider any more.

the comment on the players looking like hulking apes is true because most football players look exactly like hulking apes! (Wayne Rooney for example) at lest they dont look like plastic and you can easily recognise them on the pitch without looking for their name on the back of their shirt.

Just bought my Fifa 09.... Looks great and better gameplay ever. I also downloaded PES 2009 Demo... I don't know what Konami have in mind. The graphics looks the same, gameplay also the same, if not worst. I was a BIG PES fan, from FIFA 08 I became a FIFA fan... They improved they game in a way PES didn't manage. Anyway, I will buy PES because some of my friends don't like FIFA.

I have been an avid fifa fan for years. I have always given PES lots of credit for the playability, I however have seen this coming since the next gen versions starting coming out. I kept telling my friend(hardcore PES) FIFA would catch them. Last year he bought FIFA over PES. He said it was ok. Now FIFA is the best. Take it from him not from me. I love FIFA but so does he and he is a convert now.

I haven't tried this FIFA as I don't own a next-gen console, just a PC, but the guy above who said PES 2008 is still a better game... mate, PES 2008 is the worse football game ever made after, of course, FIFA 2000. I'd be surprised if it were better than anything!! I'm a PES fan, and I'm yet to see a game that beats PES 5 and PES 6. I'd really love to try this one.

Hello. Has anyone tried both XBOX360 and PS3 version?? I have tried the final XBOX360 version and it is much better than the PS3 demo version (the grass looks more authentic and the animations are smoother),
I prefer playing with the PS3 controller, but the graphics look better on the XBOX.
