Tom Clancy's EndWar Features for PS3

On: PS3Xbox 360PCDSPSP  Check Price

Welcome to Heads-up, VideoGamer.com's weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommendation of the Week: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack - PC
Although World of Warcraft has had some competition over the last couple of years, nothing has even come close to toppling the MMO giant. Expansion packs for PC games aren't usually headline news, but when said expansion is going to be one of the top selling games of the year and the game is one of the most popular ever created, you have to take notice. The new continent of Northrend, the Death Knight class and the increase in level cap to 80 are the big additions, so prepare to push all your other games to the side again.

Recommendation of the Week: Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts - Xbox 360
Marmite games seem to be all the rage at the moment. You'd be forgiven for thinking that you can only have one of two opinions about new releases, with everyone falling into the "it's crap" or the "it's brilliant" camps. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts is certainly one of these games, with its vehicle-based gameplay likely to upset anyone thinking they're getting a traditional platformer. Get over the fact that Banjo will be riding in cars, boats, planes and helicopters for most of the game (that you've created) and you'll hopefully find one of the most creative and unique games of 2008.

Recommendation of the Week: Football Manager 2009 - PC
If watching football doesn't take up enough of your time already and you need even more of the beautiful game, Football Manager 2009 is for you. Your misery felt because of the performance of your underperforming team in real life can be mimicked by your virtual team, or just maybe you'll be able to turn your team into title contenders. Yes, it's similar to the previous few games, but that won't stop you sinking hours into tweaking every aspect of your squad and tactics.

Recommendation of the Week: Mirror's Edge - Xbox 360 and PS3
Two Marmite games in one week. Like Banjo, Mirror's Edge will divide opinion, with very few people thinking it's just 'OK'. We happen to really like DICE's first-person action platformer, mainly down to its superbly simple control scheme and deceptive depth, but others may well find the trial and error gameplay to be a little too much to take in an age where hand holding has become the norm. It helps that it's gorgeous and that the soundtrack is stunning, but if you didn't like the demo you won't like the full release.

Just to clear things up. We haven't received World at War yet, so didn't feel comfortable recommending it on the brand alone.

Strange that after the huge success of Call of Duty 4 by Infinity Ward, Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War isn't actually a recommended game this week. I'm not surprised after I didn't enjoy the beta... but hopefully Call of Duty 6 will do better.

I'm getting Mirror's Edge this week and I can't wait! I would like to get Banjo as it is looking good, but I think that can wait until the quiet time after Christmas.

Surely 'My Boyfriend' should be right at the top, I'll bet that is a must-have.
