Capcom wants DMC5 to be 'tailored to what fans want'
If it creates it, says Keiji Inafune.
If Capcom decides to create Devil May Cry 5, it'll be "custom-tailored to what fans want", the Japanese company has said.
In particular Capcom wants the potential game to be well-received by the media, global head of R&D Keiji Inafune told VideoGamer.com at E310 last week.
Rumour that a fifth game in the action slasher series is in the works has been rife in recent months.
In April US game mag Game Informer claimed Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory was set to work on a new Devil May Cry game.
While Infanue refused to comment on the rumour, he did insist that the Devil May Cry series was popular enough to continue.
"Yes, there are a lot of fans of the Devil May Cry series," he said. "We need to look at them, analyse what they want in a game, what they don't want in a game, and then take that into account for if we are going to create a future title, and see if there is something we can create that is going to overcome their expectations, as well as create a title that's going to get a lot of critical acclaim and be reviewed quite well.
"We don't just want to come at it and just say, oh it's a popular series, let's make a sequel. We want to say, let's make a sequel that's going to be custom-tailored to what the fans want, and on top of that, prove that, again, it's a great game, it's a fun game, it's got lasting appeal, and it's going to be particularly well-liked by the media as well."
The last title in the series, 2008's Devil May Cry 4, was great, but it wasn't brilliant. It replaced popular franchise protagonist Dante with debutant Nero as main man, which didn't go down too well with fans.

Fisrt of all DMC need 2 continue the story, so the events should take place after those in the second, not b4 the 3rd.
My suggestions: (read it to the end, after u may say what u want)
1st: old style characters (or at least a convincing reason 2 change, not a change of style without story explanation)
We left Dante going stright 2 hell. 1st missions with Dante fighting some of the previous (in time not nr. of title) chapters devils. In a certain mission a boss that's 2 fast appears. Here it comes Trish who paralyses the opponent and Dante killing him using this chance. From this mission after u have Trish helping out like vergil in mission 19 in DMC 3 or Nier videogame. Trish does very little damage (1/10 of Dante or how the gamecreator professionals think) & cannot move even the light enemies. In the other hand her attacks can paralyse the opponents, stopping them from moving for some instants. Trish scoldes Dante 4 not telling her he was going 2 do ''THAT'' mission. Here I would like a kissing scene, but since other fans might like more Lady, or even Lucia i let this in your hands. Another few missions & they have 2 fight a large & big boss with a shere in the centre of the body. After u take down some of the monsters life or after some time (in creators hands) Lady comes with a bike, eventually crashing it in the devils head. Now after there is even Lady helping out.(little damage, but can move light opponents) In the after scene the boss absorbs Trish's power & making her faint. Lady uses this chance to use the grapple of Kalinne Ann 2 approach the demon 6 shots a rocket in very close range. The demon creates a shield 2 protec. After the smoke of the shot dissapears we c that the demon took no damage. He throws the shield against Lady, who gets cought by the shot & the blade of Kalinne Ann cuts her left arm. Lady faints. Dante tranformed in devil stabs the demon in the sphere. He explodes & his blood being acid & poisonous wets Dante. He goes KO & everything seems over. Next mission begins with a cutscene of Nero. Vergil is calling him 2 enter the hell gate opened in DMC 2. Once he enters he wakes up. (was a dream) Like the kind guy he is, he leaves Kirie & begins the journey 2 the gate. He has Yamato & red queen. First mission with some easy demons. Lucia was waiting Dante in his office and hears the sound of the bike.(Lucia's ending in DMC 2)But when the door is opened it's not Dante, it's a stranger, Nero. Here I lert it in your hands if resolving everything with a nice talk, or with a boss battle against Lucia. Nero convinces Lucia 2 help him 2 help Dante. (with provoking words) Nowhere Lucia helps Nero.(does more damage then Trish & Lady, but still less than Nero & no effect, nor moves even light monsters).They can catch up with dante 'cuz 1 day in hell is 1 year in earth. So even if there has pass some months in earth since Dante went 2 hell, 4 Dante they were just some hours. They follow the same way of Dante, but a little different. In a mission they enter a temple. Boss batlle against Vergil, who uses a fake of the sword in DMC 3 final mission.(he acts like he doesn't know anything. When Nero defeats him he explains; when Vergil was resent to hell in the events of DMC 1 a part of his power remained in earth. Nero needed power in that exact moment 2 protect Kirie, so he took that power. Vergil just wanted 2 test Nero's power's. Mundus got access 2 the chamber of souls, a room in hell which allowes who enters inside 2 controll hell & it's gates.That's why the gate got opened although Argosax plan wasn't accomplished. (this is also the reason why Dante was so serious in DMC 2 & why he seemed 2 not worry so much about the events). From now on Virgil helps out Nero.(same as Lucia). 2 free Vergil Nero must destroy an emblem.(sss combo) Some missions later they reach out Dante's team. Lucia cries, Vergil is shoked ,but wants 2 end what Dante began. Nero is attracted by the rests of the sphere of the devil that Dante fought. When he touches it his right hand absorbs it. Lightning comes out of his hand. 1 shots Trish, who wakes up with her full powers. Nero gained the devil powers. He regenerates Ladys arm & absorbs the acid poisonous blood from Dante. So, he saves every1. Vergil. Dante, rn't u ashamed, 2 b saved by a kiddo? Daante: he doesn't semm a kiddo anymore 2 me. lady speakes with Dante in private. She scoldes him 4 not telling her he was the son of Sparda & she confesses him her love. Dante: Wow, till now no luck with women & now I got 2 chiks in a hell day. They enter in the gate that the devil with the sphere protected. Ther r 2 doors. Each sends 2 a different room. There r bosses in the rooms. U must stay a hell day in each room. After, u can get out only if at that time the boss is defeated. There r 4 rooms including the 1st 2. They lead to the other room not yet cleared when u get out. Thay lead 2 the chamber of souls if the others r cleared. The probles is that after 3 hell days u r transported to the gate(square 1). Dante's team get the 2 left & Nero's the 2 right. This way in 2 hell days thay clear 4 rooms, letting the 3rd day for the chamber of souls. 2 enter the chamber u must bet your soul. Dante persuades the girls that's 2 dangerous for them & Vergil cannot bet his soul cuz he don't have 1, since he is already dead. He decides 2 give the rest of his powers 2 Nero.(Nero does even more damage, tranformed in a full devil) If u die in the chamber u cease 2 exist.(not in earth, nor in heaven, nor in hell) In this last mission u use Nero while Dante helps out like Virgil in mission 19 DMC 3. In half the battle (cutscene) Mundus takes down Dante & stabs him with Rebellion. Nero enraged gets Mundus out of Dantes range. Dante: Remember what i did kid,.. ah Nero, & do it better. Nero: U can count on it. Dante: u'r already biginning. Nero takes rebellion from Dante's body and somehow fuses it with Yamato. Nero can now use a style like the darkslayer in DMC 4 of Dante. It consists in using combined combos of red queen with the close range attack and rebellion with the devil bringer button.(no more devil bringer of course in this mode, but massive damage). Now I let the rest in the creators hands.

after all these ppl who made thier own sites, vids and comments about bringing vergil back..you should atleast do that for dmc fans ..and cut this new dante sht... devil may cry 5 should be about VERGIL AND DANTE ONLY. as a main characters like dmc3 thats y every single fan like dmc3 the best of all.

More characters is a bad idea because it just lowers the number of possible combinations. Imagine if Dante in DMC3 had've had access to all of Virgil's weapons? Doppelgangers using Yamato and Rebellion seperately? Hell yes.
If it has 15 or more melee weapons, then it'll be awesome, and that's all you need. Graphics would be nice, great boss fights would be a plus too, so would DMC3's trademark levels of cheese. But when it all comes down to it, what the series needs more than anything, and what DMC4 lacked, is just variety. That's the reason I played DMC3 for 80 hours, and DMC4 for 20.
I seriously just pray that regardless of anything else they go back to DMC3's variety. Even though Red Queen was a wonderfully fun weapon, it being the only weapon for most of the game was just... Pathetic.
EDIT: Thanks for reminding me, Devilmaydie. Co-op. Bring it back. Why on Earth would you remove the Doppelganger style, my god.

Throw in some destructible environments, like slashing some pillars and hitting them at your foes. Or having spikes on the walls throwing your opponents onto it and then start shooting or slashing them.
Online Co-op would be fantastic as well. Being able to chain combos with a friend
More mini-Bosses and fleshed out bosses.
More interaction with opponents, say you have a foe with wings, somehow be able to hijack it in a stylish manner and fly over your enemies while you A) Drag your sword on the ground, or B) just do a fly-by shooting
Motorcycle minigames or levels with bosses (Final Fantasy VII anyone) I'm just imagining Dante crusading through the streets with his red cape flying in the air as he slashes and shoots foes on the street or in their own type of vehicles
In the cutscenes in this one, show how dante interacts with normal human society. I would love to see how people react to his badass personality.
Give the character a whole different swag depending on which weapon he's rocking, i.e. the way he walks etc
Make Dante have really long grown out hair :P
Make each fight with an enemy epic have so it's like each enemy you fight looks like a beautifully choreographed scene (quality fighting over quantity of enemies that you fight)
No more flying phantom enemies (they were NOT fun to fight at all) and if you do bring them back make them fun to fight.
Less backtracking and more original environments.

They also need to make a better atmosphere than the forth one. Really, it sucked compared to first or third game.
I really liked the musics in third game. In combats, they should stick with that metal music they used and my favourite is the one which plays when you buy stuff from Divinity Statue on a level in the third game.
And of course, more funny cutscenes.
