You can have everything ruined by Black Phantoms for months to come!
Despite the launch of its spiritual multiplatform successor Dark Souls in two weeks, Atlus has renewed its pledge to maintain the online functionality of PS3 exclusive Demon's Souls into 2012.
"While the reality is that one day the servers will ultimately close due to operation and maintenance costs," said Aram Jabbari, Atlus PR and sales manager, in a press release "that day is not today, nor will it be this year. We're excited to continue to support one of the most significant, influential games in recent memory into its third year."
Demon's Souls' original EULA stated it would provide online functionality for at least six months, though after that date the publisher would be free to disable the servers whenever they chose.
Atlus had previously said it would keep Demon's Souls' servers open until the launch of Dark Souls, but now the cult classic will get a few more months of online life - though it's currently unknown when in 2012 they plan to switch the servers off. Atlus wouldn't even say if it would be before or after the Olympics.
Jabbari also said Atlus is "planning to hold more tendency events for our loyal, beloved fans," though would not specify when this would take place.
Basically, the move will allow you and a friend to get completely screwed over by the Maneaters (4-2), Penetrator (1-3), and Flamelurker (2-2) for the next few months. Hurrah!
If I could just get a Pure Bladestone I could get a Platinum Trophy in this flipping game.
