THQ has announced that a hefty playable demo of action-adventure title Darksiders will be released on PSN and Xbox LIVE Marketplace on February 25, 2010.

The demo promises approximately 90 minutes of play time and contains the entire first dungeon encounter from the game, the Twilight Cathedral. The level contains dozens of puzzles, new equipment and boss battles against the monstrous demon Jailer and the savage bat-winged Tiamat.

"We are really pumped to be bringing a playable demo for Darksiders to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3," said David Adams, General Manager of Vigil Games. "We really wanted to give gamers a true idea of the variety of gameplay that the game offers and so rather than just making a standard 20-minute demo version of the first few levels, we decided to give away this massive level and reveal the true essence of the game."

It'll be well worth the download when it arrives on PS3 and Xbox 360 next week. Find out what we thought by reading our review.

Darksiders was way above mediocre - it was actually a very good game (perfect no - but still very good non the less) - I'm playing through Dante's Inferno at the moment and it isn't a patch on Darksiders. I hope that this move by Vigil helps them shift more copies - It seems a shame that no one seems to give new IP's a chance at the moment all everyone seems to want is another MW, MGS, FF etc.

Is this just an attempt to boost, poor sales. But tbh, if you launch a mediocre, new IP in 2010, the most expensive year for games since... 2007? Then what do you expect

I can see why they're doing this - the first bit of the game is a bit slow going as you're move set is limited to some basic combo's. Dropping you in the middle should give you a taste of some of the more advanced moves that deepen the combat :) Well played Vigil.

Lmao,
better late than never.
That's a seriously large demo as well,
must not be selling as well as they'd hoped.

this is good news. If I like it when I try it out I might buy it. That's quite an effort by the devs. I will not buy it used either... I don't support used games from gamestop anymore.
