Tom Orry, Editor - Just Dance, Wii
Writing about video games for a living isn't always a bed of roses. Just this week I had to do the one thing I hate doing more than anything else: dance. OK, my definition of dance may be somewhat different to what dancing actually is, but I did move my arms about a bit in time with some music and an on-screen dancer. While I'm never going to play Just Dance again, I can see it being brought out at parties and my little sister is already asking if she can borrow it so she can play with her friends. It lets you dance, with friends if that's your thing, and for most people that's going to make Just Dance a must-buy.

Wesley Yin-Poole, Deputy Editor – Mass Effect 2, Xbox 360
I've spent the last seven days hammering my most anticipated game of 2010: Mass Effect 2. Why? So we can deliver to your computer monitors the most definitive review you'll find anywhere on the web. I'm not allowed to tell you "WOT I FINK" about any of it until early next week, but I can tell you a bit about one of the game's surprising features: mining. In order to boost your abilities you need to research upgrades on your ship. To do that, you need resources. And to get them, you need to mine planets. This meta-game involves moving a scanning reticule over the planet's surface, represented as a globe, and, when the pad rumbles and the seismometer-style graph goes nuts, sending a probe down to collect your loot. I've spent an unhealthy amount of time playing this somewhat monotonous mini-game - somehow it's therapeutic, and even addictive. I've even spent resources on upgrades that make gathering resources quicker.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 screenshot

Neon Kelly, Previews Editor - Battlefield Bad Company 2, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC
Earlier this week I paid a whistle-stop visit to DICE's HQ in Stockholm - a trip that allowed me to get a first glimpse of Bad Company 2's single-player campaign. I'm not yet allowed to talk about what I've seen in any detail (that'll have to wait until next week), but I can tell you this: if you're looking for a game in which you blow up lots of stuff (and lots of Russians), you won't be disappointed. Indeed, when I look back on the trip one of my strongest memories is the wonderful "flump" noise of the underslung grenade launcher on my XM8 prototype assault rifle - a sound that was usually followed by a "BOOM" and an "Aaaaaaargh!". The whole experience reminded me of the early bit in Predator where Arnie and chums go nuts in that guerilla camp; if that's not a good sign, I don't know what is.

Been playing the biggest game on this list...

...yes, I bought Just Dance!

It's actually a lot of fun and I'm sure I've lost a bit of weight from it. Pity the song list isn't longer though.

Played Forza 3 for 5 hours last night to 4.30am. That's the only gaming I got in last week, studying for the rest of it. Off for a week now so hopefuly it'll be different this week.
