Kotaku has revealed a massive amount of Modern Warfare 3 information, including game details, early screenshots, and the entire plot of what will likely be 2011's biggest game.

The game, a joint effort between Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software, is currently sporting a respectable line-up of 20 multiplayer maps.

Modern Warfare 2's popular Spec Ops mode is also returning, with two different types of mode - Survival and Mission.

It is unclear whether all of these maps will make it into the final build of the game, however. The map Hotel, recently released as part of the Black Ops Escalation Map Pack, was cut from Black Ops towards the end of development.

The list in full:

- Alpha
- Alps
- Bootleg
- Bravo
- Brooklyn
- Carbon
- Coast
- Dome
- Exchange
- Hardhat
- Interchange
- Lambeth
- Meteora
- Mogadishu
- Paris
- Plaza 2
- Radar
- Seatown
- Underground
- Village

That's a fair enough point. But at least we will have some closure.

It's nice to see the devs strive to get a lot of content on the disk. I must admit though, apart from a mild curiosity about just how the finished product performs, I will not be buying MW3. CoD lost all appeal for me on MW2 multiplayer. I may rent to try out the campaign but if it's anything like Blops it'll be returned within a couple of hours...

Battlefield 3 will be the only FPS I need this summer, so to MW3 I say "good luck".

Nice to see this mode return to be honest, as it was good on MW2. I can't see COD having subscriptions for MW3, as for one it will no doubt kill it for the majority of us here, as I know I wouldn't want to pay a subscription just to play the game online.

Great number of content it seems but the same generic camp-athon , look a pointless badge online will just be the same . Black-ops had a lot of issues and the servers aren't the best now so maybe MW3 is trying to put more content in to help stop the bitching but i for one won't be bothered if they put 200 maps in i won't be playing the online . A rent for the story will save me the time and effort to moan about lag , glitching and the patches that don't improve things but i'm sure the many will give their all and good luck to them.

Maybe there's extra content because it comes at a cost...subscription fees maybe?

Okay, so there's a lot of content, that is unsuprising. Afterall, if there was one year that a CoD game could have been worse that ones in previous years, it would be this one. Due to there being a new Activision, Raven software, which has made a few X Men games and Sledgehammer software who, I don't even know if they've released a game. And therefore, if there was going to be a year where Battlefield 3 was likely to out do CoD it would probably be this year.

So, I think MW3 will have everything, a huge number of maps, lets say 20. More Spec Ops and a, probably >6 hour campaign. And I also think that the advertising campaign will be the biggest we have seen in a long time, probably even bigger than MW2's.

I might actually get this..

Yeah that surprised y'all - the COD hater not hating!

I liked MW1 and two and if it's a good closure to the story, then it could be a good trilogy. As usual, I'll play 5 mins of MP and then throw the controller out of the window. Unless I like the maps. Then I'll play more, the only cod to suck me in was WAW so it has some way to go!
