Cage doesn't want gamers to read about Beyond before playing it
Stop reading now.
Gamers should read as little as they can about Beyond: Two Souls prior to playing the game, creator David Cage has advised.
Speaking to PlayStation Blog at Paris Games week earlier this month Cage said that he wishes he could release Beyond without speaking about or showing off the game in any way.
"I think there should be no preparation for Beyond. You must go into the game trying to learn as little as possible!" said Cage.
"Like other game creators, I wish I could say nothing and show nothing, and put a plain black cover on the shelves so that players start the game completely blank, with no information from trailers. This is something that is obviously not possible, unfortunately!
"For people who trust us and who loved Heavy Rain – we will surprise you, we will give you something you expect without even knowing that you were expecting it! I think it will be a real experience. We believe in it and we’re working hard for it. We are really surprised every day to see the game being born on the screens; it’s a real treat and a real surprise. I hope it has the same effect on the players."
Cage says the game is now only days away from reaching alpha, although it won't begin to resemble the final game until beta is achieved.
Beyond: Two Souls is expected to hit stores in Q1 2013.

Et voila, game stays in our subconscious, curiosity builds to bursting point and lots of OMG must have it now on release day if the Metascore is good.
It's probably something that The Elderscrolls Online should have done, it's also something that Blizzard's Project Titan seems to be doing remarkably well so far.

Likewise with this. Cage doesn't try to make conventional games and instead pushes for interactive storytelling over actual gameplay. A bad piece of marketing could be pretty damaging to your perception of the content before it arrives.
Personally, I didn't think much of Heavy Rain. Mainly because the story bored me. But, I'm willing to go into this one blind and try again. A creepy, supernatural storyline seems more interesting than a crime thriller.
