DICE warns against milking Battlefield franchise
Too many products 'could damage the franchise'.
DICE senior producer Patrick Bach hasn't ruled out further Battlefield 1943-like titles, but has told VideoGamer.com that they must be careful not to milk the franchise.
"I wouldn't say that we're not thinking of it, because we are. It was an experiment and a successful one," said Bach when asked about a sequel.
He continued: "We haven't said no to building more digital distribution-only games, but we need to be careful. You shouldn't just try to make money out of things. Just because it's a success, doesn't mean you want to milk it. Battlefield is a delicate product that we want to make sure we're getting the most out of. Pushing out more 1943-like products could actually damage the franchise."
Battlefield 1943 was the top-selling game in Xbox LIVE Arcade in 2009 and set sales records on both XBLA and PSN. Despite Bach's warning, it seems likely we'll see a follow-up at some point in the future.

1943 is definitely one I'm waiting for DLC. It's been long enough now. BC2 may distract us for a while but 1943 is a great little FPS in it's own right. It deserves a little more.
