SEGA and Gearbox have taken a firm stance in defence of a class action lawsuit brought against them in relation to the shipped version of Aliens: Colonial Marines not matching up to that shown in earlier gameplay demonstrations and marketing.

"SEGA cannot comment on specifics of ongoing litigation, but we are confident that the lawsuit is without merit and we will defend it vigorously," reads a statement from SEGA.

Gearbox followed, taking an even stronger stance against the claims.

"Attempting to wring a class action lawsuit out of a demonstration is beyond meritless," a statement from the studio reads. "We continue to support the game, and will defend the rights of entertainers to share their works-in-progress without fear of frivolous litigation."

Personally I think it's very sad that TimeGate studios have had to take the majority of the blame for the poor quality of Aliens Colonial Marines and have now ended up bankrupt, whereas Gearbox have never apologised for marketing the game with entirely fake gameplay videos (which TimeGate had nothing to do with), making a tidy profit on the game as a result, and come out of this whole affair with their pockets full of cash while everyone else (including us gamers) has lost out.

Randy Pitchford (the slimeball) used the funds given to him by SEGA to develop Aliens Colonial Marines to develop Borderlands 1 & 2 instead - something which former and current SEGA, TimeGate, and Gearbox employees have confirmed. With the little money he had left he paid TimeGate to develop Aliens Colonial Marines on a shoestring budget, whilst getting his own people at Gearbox to make the fake gameplay videos to present to SEGA, which he then used to con us into buying the game.

SEGA are currently in the process of building a case against Pitchford for fraud and embezzlement, as well as this class action lawsuit - and in true Aliens style "I hope they nail him right to the wall for this, I hope he's not able to sleaze his way out of this one, right to the wall!
