The Buzz: THQ rumoured to be the game's new publisher after it was dropped by Activision Blizzard.
When Activision merged with Vivendi, a lot of titles - most famously Ghostbusters - were dropped after being deemed not a "strong fit" with Activision Blizzard's long-term strategy. Besides the aforementioned Ghostbusters another abandoned title is 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, the Unreal Engine 3 powered sequel to 50 Cent: Bulletproof.
According to Kotaku Blood on the Sand is far from dead though, and is in fact close to going gold with a new publisher on the cards. If Kotaku's sources are correct the new publisher is THQ.
AdvertisementAn Activision rep told Kotaku the publisher has a "policy of not commenting on rumours" but also added: "I can tell you that we announced back in July that we are retaining only those franchises that are a strong fit with our long-term strategy - Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age, Spyro, Protoype and an unannounced new IP. We will not publish other titles that previously were part of the Vivendi Games portfolio and are currently reviewing our options regarding these titles."
50 Cent: Blood on the Sand had previously been scheduled for release this autumn for Xbox 360 and PS3.
