man u must be stupid to think TNA is better dan da WWE, TNA is wear all da old people hu couldnt keep up wiv da wwe superstars go, wwe smackdown vs raw WILL be f##king awesome
So I have owned, played and done all there is to do with every single Smackdown & SVR game made in the series right back from the original Smackdown game.
So as I'm sure most will agree, I desperately hope the new Smackdown Vs Raw title will have changed dramatically. The biggest issue I think most fans of the series have is that there are VERY obvious things missing in the latest games that are STILL yet to appear.
Things like:
- Belts not fitting waists
- Season mode being far too short and generic.
- Not enough music tracks to choose from in CAW mode.
- Improved PvP title system.
etc.
So... These would be things I would include if I was developing the game. I've categorized things into their relative subjects.
CAW Mode
1. Obviously the 1st thing would be an even more detailed system for creating a wrestler. More clothes, more patterns, more of everything. Hairstyles fully customizable (Back, Front, Sides, Style, Thin/Thick etc.) The hairstyles are far too generic and similar.
2. Ability to add your own entrance music. (The PS3 is easily ready for this). I'd love it if I could have my main CAW that I've always had in every game enter to "Shinedown - Crying Out"
3. This is a big one for me - MORE ANNOUNCER NAMES!!!! The announcer names in SVR 06 and 07 were and still are HORRIBLE. They just outright suck. Totally unoriginal. The Immortal, The Legend, The Animal. Argh!!!
This option is in real need of an overhaul. It should be similar to create-a-player on Pro Evolution 6 for ps2. If you're unfamiliar with it, when you create your player you have the option of what name the commentator will call him when he has the ball and a huge a-z list of surnames to choose from.
Now obviously we don't want names like "Smith" and "Johnson" for our CAW... or do we? Maybe... Bobby Lashley, Jeff/Matt Hardy, John Cena. There are plenty of big names in the WWE who go by actual names.
But anyway, there should be more names to choose from and without the word THE infront of any of them. Instead a prefix option should be added so you can pick your name and choose if you want "THE" before the name.
Ideally if it were possible which I'm sure it could be. A system where you just had a big list of various names, nouns and prefixes and you could just combine them.
Just Like...... Big Bad Vader, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Davey Boy Smith.
anyway.....moving on....
4. Option of multiple pyrotechnics for EVERY step of advanced entrances. Not just a limit of two for a four step process. That just makes no sense.
5. Ability to switch camera angles atleast 6-8 times for each step of Advanced entrance.
6. A "Belt" option in Advanced entrance to choose how a CAW would enter and show off with belt.
7. A timer option of up to 10 secs before CAW enters stage. That way you could time entrances with music and it would look fantastic. Think DX music....it takes a while to kick in ("Are you ready...?"). It looks odd with your wrestler already half way down the ramp annd then "Break it down!" hits.
24/7 mode (aka Season mode)
1. Minimum of 4 seasons. (Which already seems to be the case)
2. Focussed depth on CAW season mode. The whole rags to riches theme is long overdue. CAW to start off as a nobody WITH a small story of his debut too. Think Y2J when he interuppted The Rock on his debut. Some sort of promo to reveal a new wrestler (your CAW).
3. Bring back "Heat" or bring in another bit-part WWE show for CAWs who you've just started out with.
4. Bigger influence by Vince McMahon, Mick Foley, The Coach, Teddy Long etc.
5. Sometimes the real RAW and Smackdown shows have promos before the title sequence plays. For example, When the nWo came to the WWE I remember a promo with Vince McMahon talking to himself in the mirror about how he would kill the WWE. Then the show's title sequence hit. The GAME should have this too. Not every week but quite often to make 24/7 mode more "edge of your seat" gameplay.
6. Leading on from 5. The title sequence should play before the start of EVERY weekly show that you go through (even if you're not involved at all that week). That would give the gamer a more involved feeling. Like you're watching the show and you're in it.
7. Get rid of the damn computer desk and just keep the mobile or if not make it less clunky and more fluid.
8. Bring back arena access. Walking around the arena and the potential of bumping into other wrestlers who are busy themselves (or atleast not just standing there like the old game) This would bring in oppurtunities for arguments, alliances, new enemies etc. Add GMs and you could put in options like asking for a match against someone or a title shot etc.
9. Managers - Now managers have been around in season mode before but the stories lasted a month tops and were pretty pointless. Managers should be brought back for 24/7 mode but with a bigger involvement on your wrestler. ESPECIALLY if it's a CAW. They could make matches for you to help you rise up in popularity and ratings. Get you title shots. They could betray you as a branch of a storyline or get kidnapped or whatever. Just a more involved option for a manager.
10. PAY PER VIEWS! My god is it just me or do they seem to be made to feel only a tiny bit more important than weekly shows on the old games? I mean especially the biggys like Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble. STORY, STORY, STORY. Make the PPVs feel like life or death matches for the player. Big rewards for winning at a PPV and big concequences for losing them too!!
11. This idea is one that I'd read so I can't take credit for it but I do like it alot. Before every PPV or just before a storyline is about to come to a head, there should be a flashback promo of what's happened to get it to this point.
12. More choices for your wrestler in storylines. Bring back the option to once in awhile interfere in a match, save a friend from ambush, run down and wake up a knocked out ref, beat an interfering managers a$$, prevent or EVEN cause some screwage etc. etc.
13. Leading on from this, I got to thinking.... the WWE shows often have storylines where things are totally out of a wrestlers hands, they're helpless, being picked on by Vince/The Coach or just constantly being screwed. This arc of storyline should also be implemented into the game. Instances where you have to make difficult decisions, sacrifices, getting screwed occassionally and not being able to control it. It would make the game far less predictable than just win, next match, win, next match, ppv, title, over. end credits.
14. My last point on 24/7Mode, Season mode, Story mode or whatever the hell you wanna call it is something NOBODY has mentioned...... COMEDY. The WWE shows have some hilarious moments over the years. Just look at any archive of the Rock on YouTube. This years SVR needs to have funny moments, hilarious promos, and events like Vince getting his head shaved or Austin coming back and spraying everyone with beer (including the ring mat) and then opening up his own can of whoop-ass.
Gameplay
Now I've read as much as I can find on SVR 2008 and most of it talks about the friggin Wii. (I'm a PS3 man) Sorry.
Anyway, it seems the animations are getting a major overhaul, the submission system is changing, no more mad button bashing or stupid mini games.
GOOD!!
So where else can they improve.
1. More out of ring zones to fight in. In particular.... THE TITANTRON.
2. Taunts need to have more influence on the match. Maybe make taunts more like pulling off a move. That way you could have excellent camera angles to watch you flip off your opponent with a smirk on your face and watch his furious, shocked, enraged reaction if you execute it. Have the crowd react even more than just a generic "Oh!"
3. Leading on from this. Taunts need to be available in any situation (other than you in the middle of getting your a$$ whooped) Taunts should be accessible on top of the turnbuckles (and I mean the wrestlers actual taunts not the stupid finger pointing thing).
4. Object realism. Weapons stay where they are rather than vanishing into thin air, and are infinately usable until broken. Chairs dent on impact, kendo sticks snap and splinter etc etc.
In backstage brawls glass should smash, blood should stain wherever a head impacts.
5. Onto that subject..... blood. Blood should flow more realisticly, blood should stain the wrestling mat and not dissolve into nothing. Blood should get on a wrestlers hands if punching bloody wrestler in the head.
I was gonna go lastly into OPTIONS of the game too but I've written so much and nobody will probably even bother reading this far anyway.
But those are my suggestions or what I'd like to see in SVR 08. You may think some of this is asking too much..... but after waiting for each new title and getting the same stuff.... I don't think any of it is too much to ask for a game that has been postponed countless time, is STILL "TBA" on a release date and is headed straight to the all powerful NEXT-GEN consoles.
But I won't be holding my breath.....
if you've read any of this......comments and feedback is always welcome.Last edited on Sat 7 July 2007 by Bazerk
