Nintendo's phenomenally successful Pokémon franchise has claimed another No.1 spot this week with the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. Diamond takes the top place, with Pearl left to slum it down at No.3. Only the multiplatform movie tie in for Transformers prevented a one-two for the latest in the Pokémon franchise.

Diamond becomes the fastest selling DS title in the UK and the second fastest selling Pokémon title behind Pokémon Yellow on the Game Boy Colour.

The release of the motion picture gave Transformers the game a huge 76% sales increase and holds the top spot on the PS2, Xbox 360 and PSP charts. So large was the sales increase that the game only misses out on the top spot by 217 units.

Harry Potter falls to No.4 and Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree slides to No.5 despite a 44% increase in sales. In all, 4 DS exclusives and 2 Wii exclusives hold places in the Top 10.

Other than the Pokémon titles, the only new entry to make any significant impact on the chart is EA's Rugby 08 at No.22.

Friday sees the re-release of Mario Party 8 which should rocket back into the Top 10, and is joined by THQ's MotoGP '07, SingStar '90s and Surf's Up.
