EA has announced that together with Namco Bandai it will publish Universal Pictures' The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

The game is based on events of the upcoming sequel to The Fast and the Furious, and promises to immerse players in the underground world of drift racing. Drifting will be the key to your success in the game, and should pose a challenge to even the most skilled drivers. Cars are modelled with 10,000+ polygons and in-game action will be presented with cinematic camera angles straight from the movie.

Don't expect a straight up racer, as Tokyo Drift will feature advanced rubber band AI to keep you on your toes to the finish and a host of boss battles to mix things up. It wouldn't be a street racing game if it didn't also feature a complete customisation mode, with more than 500 body kits, numerous decals, and tuning options at your disposal. Multiplayer modes for two players via split-screen and up to four players online are also present.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift is scheduled for release late this summer for PlayStation 2 and PSP across all PAL territories.
