Sanzaru Games has announced that it is putting the finishing touches on Secret Agent Clank for the PlayStation 2. The game was originally released on PSP in the summer of 2008 and saw players taking control of Ratchet's sidekick Clank in a spy spoof platformer.

It sounds as though PS2 gamers will be receiving a fairly significant update over the existing PSP game too.

"High Impact Games put together an awesome game and we wanted to make sure that all the great gameplay moments from Secret Agent Clank were preserved from the original PSP title," said Sanzaru Games president Glen Egan. "We have therefore focused a great deal of our time and energy on rebuilding all the levels, characters and effects to take advantage of the additional power of the PlayStation 2."

Sanzaru has also given the controls a spruce up to take advantage of the DualShock II.

"Also given the different controller we wanted to bring back the lock-strafe camera mode seen in previous games, since a lot of us have enjoyed using it to great effect to blow stuff up over the years!" explained Egan.

The game's scheduled for release on May 26 in the US. There's currently no word on a European release date.
