Patch for PS3 version fixes stuttering when playing on a standard definition TV.
Konami has released a patch for the embattled PS3 version of PES 2008 - but there's still no word on an Xbox 360 patch.
The patch, which will automatically install the next time you load up the game, supposedly resolves issues with stuttering when playing the PS3 version on standard definition televisions.
While a fix for stuttering experienced in the PS3 version of the game is welcome, Konami is yet to bring word on what every PES 2008 owner really wants - a patch that will sort out the terribly laggy online play once and for all.
In November last year we brought you the news of a patch for both versions of the game which claimed to fix online lag and offline slowdown issues, bringing mixed results.
We caused quite a stir when we published our PS3 PES 2008 review, in which we gave the game a disappointing seven out of 10, mainly due to the offline and online technical problems.

Nope, i haven't noticed any improvement. Absolute rubbish from Konami - All i've noticed is a tone-down in graphics - hardly the improvement i was looking for.

I bought PES for the Xbox 360 the day it came out and was so disappointed with the Online play that I havent played it since. Very frustrating news from Konami

Since the new patch i have been playing pes2008 offline on a non-HD scart tv and no difference as far as i can tell - replays still jerky and game slowsdown when too many players on-screen - not checked out online cos last few attempts were laggy and unplayable...no incentive to try again. Offline can be fun if you are a football fan with a good imagination and yeh...even this version is still better than fifa!!!

So far there hasn't been any noticeable improvement for online. Somehow its gotten too easy to play against computer player, the tactics are always the same and they always leave a blank spot on the defence for your player to drive through. so it gets really boring to play this game without the online feature.
WHERE IS THE PATCH FOR ONLINE??!! we are getting very impatient with this, if they want to properly compete with FIFA we better hope to see the online patch really soon otherwise I'm switching man!

Online the game is a joke. I got it on PC, and am at the stage where DVD being used as a coaster is getting closer. Such a good game offline, but the ball just teleports around the pitch, player appear from nowhere, and corners are given after keeper saves ball and it stays in play.

How can you buy a game that promises you to be able to play online. It been almost 6 months from the release date and the online play mode is JUST LAG!

Online game is terrible. Makes me seriously consider switching to FIFA as much as I like gameplay of PES, they have failed year after year to make improvements to the game, and the fact that the online game is so terrible makes things worse. I really hope the next update is better.

lag is made by the other. i make lag and score. then i stop lag to normal play. i wrote konami about it. just use utorrent to upload something on the net, and the bandwith for pes is out. simply. awfull. now i ply master league, better feeling.

A 7 rating? Are you kidding? This game does not deserve even a 0. Why release a game when its obviously not ready? Konami just killed the PES franchise with this year's crappy release. They certainly are not getting my money next year.
