Capcom is unlikely to revive its Dino Crisis & Onimusha franchises, telling VideoGamer.com that it believes it is "more important to focus on creating new IP" than look back at its classics.

Talking to VideoGamer.com yesterday about the prospect of returning to the two classic series, Resident Evil Revelations producer Masachika Kawata (who previously worked on the two IPs) said:

"Capcom has obviously never shied away from bringing back our older IPs to new generations, but I do think it's more important for us to focus on creating new IP as we move forward."

Besides Onimusha Soul, a browser-based game released by Capcom last summer, both series' have been on hiatus since the mid-noughties.

The last core game in the Onimusha series, Onimusha 3, released on PS2 in 2004, with Dino Crisis remaining absent since 2003.

It was speculated last year that Lost Planet 3 developer Spark Unlimited had been developing a new game in the Onimusha series.

That game, however, turned out to be Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, a zombie-themed spin-off of Team Ninja's hack & slash series.

Pity, I loved that Omnimusha game that I've played... having said that, think I loved it because of Jean Reno, and not the game itself...
